Which uni. is better for a MBA? Bath, Lancaster, Strathclyde, Leeds, Birmingham(plz help prioritize)

Hi guys,

I'm an international student with marketing and public relation background who decided to start my 2020 MBA journey, I've applied for a couple of different schools and to be honest, I'm having difficulty prioritising offers. And that's the reason why I'm shouting out for your help, which I sincerely appreciate it.

I'm listing my current offers as below, hopefully, you can help to prioritise them regarding your understanding of their business school background, practical focus, reputation..etc and share some feedback:

1. Bath (with scholarship)
2. Lancaster (with scholarship)
3. Strathclyde (still need to apply for a scholarship)
4. Leeds (with scholarship)
5. Birmingham (still need to apply for a scholarship)
*Edingburgh (Waiting for interview notification)

I'm planning to work in the UK after graduation since there will be 2 years working visa available. After that, I'd search for working opportunities in Singapore. Let me know what you guys think! Big thanks in advance

I'd put them in 3 groups.

1. Edinburgh, Lancaster, Strathclyde
2. Bath, Leeds
3. Birmingham

p.s. Why not Durham? It has the same cost and better ranking.

I would put Birmingham a bit higher. See https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/mba-rankings/global/2020 and filter by UK.

What I would say is to ignore the value of the scholarship and focus on the value of the outcome.

yup, I tried so many different global & UK ranking. Yet except for Edinburgh, other uni.'s ranking are all having ups and downs by years. Like Bath is really high ranked in UK, but it does not do well in most world MBA ranking that's why it's really hard for me to make the choice.

Thanks for your feedback. :) I did not go for uni like Durham or Cranfield because I don't really have more time to prepare for GMAT. (I tried to take the test once, and that's how I realize it's hard and it take time..)

So, you'd recommend the priority more like Edinburgh>Lancaster>Strathclyde>Bath, if these are the final considerations. Thanks again. :)

This depends on your goals and background. The top three and certainly top. I am at Edinburgh myself, and it's a senior MBA for people with some success.

I have nearly 5 years of experience in marketing and public relation. For studying MBA, I'm aiming to develop a complete business management ability with strategic development skills. I feel like looking for local job like consultancy or business management, which would help put up some oversea working experience. Then starting my own business back home.

Also, my first priority is Edinburgh for no doubt yet I should have their reply by end of month. Since all the rest offer deadline is also EOM, I will need to make choice between Bath, Lancaster, Strathclyde. :( So you are recommending Edinburgh>Bath>Lancaster>Strathclyde, right? Again, thanks for your reply. :)

Cranfield gives you the chance to take the Cranfield test instead of the GMAT: I spoke to former and current alumni and they said it's easier than the GMAT.
And I'd put Cranfield above the others on your list.
However, it comes at a 5K higher tuition with respect to your other picks.

I'm not sure that there's any publication that ranks Bath 'really high' even if just among UK schools.

Bath is ranked highly at the undergraduate level but not to well for the Bath MBA.

Hey brother. What did you decide? Can I know your profile? I have a 2 years work experience in Digital marketing and I am also looking for MBA in UK. However I do not want to attempt GMAT. It is hard for me to score in GMAT with my job pressure. I am also targeting similar business schools. I am mostly into Lancaster, Leeds, Strathclyde. I heard Strathclyde MBA is better than Glasgow and Edinburgh if you want to work in Edinburgh or Glasgow! Anyways how did you avail the scholarship? It is pretty hard to get scholarship in MBA. Can you help me out with some information?
