The Program

The classroom

The classroom

The ESMT Full-time MBA is a leadership development program that allows participants to focus on global & sustainable business, innovation management and entrepreneurship. The one-year program places an emphasis on personal growth and development. Students complete unparalleled individual coaching, teambuilding, and reflection seminars that are fully integrated into the course lecture schedule.

Students begin by studying basic business frameworks for the first six weeks. Intercultural team management and personal career planning are covered while students have traditional courses in economics and business in society. Students then begin Mastering Management, where they obtain a solid foundation in business practices, from accounting to marketing. As a capstone assignment, they complete an Integrative Leadership Exercise: teams apply learned material to a dynamic problem and find an innovative solution.

Afterwards, students Take the Lead. Participants develop strategy skills for leading at every organizational level. An integral part of these leadership skills is the ability to make a difference - steering changes, achieving innovation, and mobilizing teams around a common goal. Students finish with a consulting project, working in teams in a company on a specific assignment. Up to 10 projects are on offer every year in a variety of industries and functions. Recently, many projects have focused on renewable energy, a few are usually at local startups in Berlin, and one project, organized through the Social Impact Club, develops NGO and social entrepreneurial ventures in countries such as Haiti, Afghanistan, and India.

For electives, participants choose from two tracks: "Managing Innovation and Technology" and "Global Sustainable Business." Electives give students in-depth specialty knowledge, which they apply during the international field seminar. Recent seminars have been in Silicon Valley, China, Brazil, and Turkey.

Global Network for Advanced Management: ESMT is part of an elite group of business schools who partner together to offer one-week short studies at their university. Up to two one-week trips will be available to MBA students, who can attend a seminar at the school of their choice. Partner schools include Yale (USA), IE (Spain), INSEAD (France), LSE (London), NUS (Singapore), Hitotsubashi (Japan) and Fudan (China)."
