MBA at Humboldt University Berlin, or Hamburg University?

Sebastian

Hi,

Here is once again the half German, half American guy looking into an MBA in Germany for next year. I was wondering if anyone knows about the details of Humboldt University or Hamburg University. Details such as if they are internationally recognized (if I were to finish my degree there would I easily find a job in the U.S.), and about the overall reputation of the Universities. I am interested in Hamburg and Humboldt because of their location being in metropolitan cities, and due to the fact that universities like ESMT Berlin, WHU, HHL Leipzig, and University of Mannheim are really expensive. If anyone knows of any other Universities located in Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig or possibly Dresden area that have a good reputation and are internationally recognized I would be really appreciative.

I think Humboldt University does not offer an MBA. If you are looking for internationally recognized MBA programs, you should look for accreditations by AACSB, AMBA or Equis. If an MBA is not accredited, it will not be internationally recognized. However, accreditation does not guarantee that a program is internationally known.

Have you checked the international MBA by ICGs in Bremen? It's only accredited by ZeVA, but is "only" 13,000 Euro.

But please always keep in mind that the "cheap" MBAs in Germany (e.g. Furtwangen, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin) have no international reputation and are even unknown in the German business world.

Best,
JL

Thanks, Detlev, for this useful shortlist. I would leave out ebs (poor quality) and GISMA (just a branch of Perdue) and clarify that Frankurt is Goethe Business School and NOT the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
