Hiya..... I'M CARMEN from Costa Rica. I'M wondering about the people's opinions regarding the best M.B.A. programs in Los Angeles (California). U.C.L.A. and U.S.C. probably but are there others, too? I do want to do the M.B.A. in 2007 and I want to be close to my brother in L.A.

I would go for UCLA or USC, I couldnt think of any other reputed schools in LA. Good luck!

normally i would never disagree with George Washington (at least not to his face), but I have to stand up for my hometown! there are other good b-schools in LA area. Pepperdine, UC Irvine, Loyola Maramount, for example. True, UCLA and USC probably are the best ranked.

well put, mendez. I think usc and ucla are the top schools in the rankings, but all five schools mentioned have pretty good credentials and connections. also a few schools in san diego worth mentioning -- as long as we are going to cover the same ground as previous threads. sdsu and usd.

I for once agree with Abe and the other chap, my comment was incomplete in that there may also be other good schools over there, so sorry ;-)

From all I read UCLA Anderson would be the best bet. The Economist even ranks it among the top 20 MBA programs worldwide:

I am thinking of attending MBA program either at Pepperdine or Loyola Marymount. What are those school's reputation? Class room atomosphere? Career path after getting MBA?

Things to consider about the various programs:
- starting date & dates of enrollment
- waiver possibilities
- size of classroom
- part-time vs. full-time student
- location, location, location
- AACSB accredidation
- MBA "culture" or "fit"

Many of these programs will encourage you to attend an information session as a starting point. GMAT scores are important, so you might want to know what is realistic for you before school shopping.

What are your thoughts about Mount St. Mary's College in L.A.?

I need to make a choice between Loyola and Pepperdine Fully Employed MBA. Tuition fee in Pepperdine is $15000 more, but if it is worth it I don't mind to invest more in to achieve my future goals. I've read a lot of information on-line about both schools and both of them provide great education. I went to information session, spoke with program advisers and I liked both campuses. But what diploma will help me to achieve carrier success faster and give more opportunities? (I know that UCLA is the best choice but I didn't get in) This question is probably better to address to graduate students who had experience with interviews. But if you know anyone please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate your advice:)

I used to live down there in So Cal, and I think those two schools have pretty identically strong reputations in the area. Sure, they're not international brands like UCLA, but both should give you good quality (as you suggest). And I think they're really close to each other, too, if memory serves. Evan
