Full Time MBA in UK in Fall 2011

Hi Everyone,
I am in serious dilema and need some gneuine suggestions from you experts .
I am a technology consultant with experience nearing to 15 years , GMAT -650. I did an extensive research on EMBA Vs. MBA and concluded to go for a MBA in Europe , primarily because of one year course structure and affordability . Until last october I was pretty sure to apply business schools in UK and applied to few of them . E.g. Warwick , Durham and Bath . Already have admit from Durham and Bath and rejected from Warwick after interview . Now, with all the uncertainities looming over the UK situation , I wated to expand my choice and applied to Tias-Nimbas and UCD Smurfit . Already got admit from Tias-Nimbas (decent scholarship) and hopefully will get from UCD as well . My primary objective of doing an MBA is to have a career break , invest in time and money to better myself from an all-round perspective and get that international academic exposure . Post-study job in the same country is not a major criteria. However it is a plus point. Another criteria for me is to have an expeipenced cohort (>8/9 yrs. experience) in the programme.
So now the question is between the UK universities that I have an offer from and the Dutch /Irish university .
Pls. do post your opinions .
Thanks

Hi,
yes you are rite. Most of the Top B-Schools have Indian student population of around 30-50%, this is due to the fact that Indians are very career oriented and hard working, but its the hard fact. As you know being ambitious and career focused, if Indians mostly choose UK universities over other European university then there has to be a reason for this rite? As far as i know at present UK has PSW scheme (not sure how long it will last for) but EU has no such scheme or if they have then i am not aware.
And Yes Tias Nimbas is a Good B-School.
Hi Mamit,
My profile is as follows:
GMAT 640
Work Exp. 12years in IT & Consulting
do I have a chance in Cambridge or Said, Oxford?
what you think abt University of Sheffield MBA?
Please help
Thanks.

Hi Smile33......I hope you dont take this negatively but 12 years is really a lot of work experience to be doing an MBA degree. I am not sure what a person can achieve with the MBA if he/she has spent 12 years in the industry, I mean, after 12 years a person should have already gained technical knowledge about the chosen field along with considerable managerial expertise. isnt that the case?
Also, If you choose universities like Sheffield, there will be people with 3 years of work experience around you and you will be a total misfit. That will be an enormous waste of your experience.
I guess programs like the one at Henley are a perfect fit for you since they are known for having a small cohort with average exp. of 10 years.

Hi Simple 33,
Yes , at last I have made up my mind to pursue my MBA from Michael Smurfit business school, Ireland . I have options to chose from a top tier-2 UK business schools(Durham ) , Netherlands (Tias Nimbas with scholarship) , and Ireland (Smurfit with scholarship) . There were many others where I knew I could easily get in but didn't apply . e.g. Aston , Lancaster , Imperial , Strathclyde , Bath etc. in UK and RSM , EmLyon etc. in the EU region .
Do let me know if you or anybody else is interested in knowing more about the schools or to engage in any related discussion . As now I am free from all those end less waiting from replies from business schools , writing scholarship essays , interviews etc. , I'll try and contribute to the forum as much as I can.
Cheers

If post -study job opportunities is not a major factor, I will recommend UK Business schools like Bath. It is highly reputed in the UK and the average age of the MBA class is normally around 31yrs and most students have over 6 years experience. Morever, the school has excellent links with biz orgs which is vital in practical application of the theories learnt.
I also have an offer from BATH but am still weighing the various options because unlike you, post study job prospect is a major factor for me!
