I'd say you send a mail to the University asking for the topic of the interview. You have every right to be aware of what you are expected to talk about.

I would think their MBA is still the yard stick ?

I do agree that MBA in USA is 100% better but they need GMAT compulsorily.
UK MBA is usually 1 year where as USA is 2 years thats the ADVT of doin it from UK....

There are more than 1 reason in choosing UK over USA. The main drawbacks of USA MBA are reasons that have nothing to do with quality of the course.
1) MBA in USA is extremely costly. The avergae cost would be close to $100,000.00 if you are looking for the good schools.
2) With the present visa scenario, it is extremely difficult to obtain a H1B visa. Even if you do, Mr. Obama's ingenius ruling for restricting H1B hiring is sure to hurt you bad. When it comes to techies USA cannot do without overseas experts but the same doesn't apply for managers.
3) After you complete your course in USA you get an OPT of a year and you need an employment offer within 3 months to continue staying in the country. With the present job scenario that might be a stiff task.
4) Staying away from the professional world for 2 years might not be what you want to do. Also, you need to consider the fact that the salary that you loose every year is also an investment towards your MBA. If your fees is $50,000 while your salary per year is $60,000 then for a 2 year MBA you are investing $170,000 plus living cost. For one year this investment decreases by a huge amount.
Having said that, I'm not very sure of how smooth it is to get the 2 years work permit in UK, post the MBA. From the immigration site it looks simple enough but is it the same in practice? Does anyone know if it's a surity that the 2 years work permit will definitely be given to MBA grads.
Thanks

Yes, 'theoretically' I would say 99% surety...no promises though! can be applied only after submission of final dissertation....You can be refused on the following grounds:
1. Criminal offence while your stay in UK (including parking tickets, under age drinking/smoking, watching tv without license)
2. Poor academic result (i.e. below or 2:2)
3. Poor attendance record
4. Erratic savings record (anytime balance below £800)
Above are the broad rules but UKBA reserves the right to decline PSW Visa at their will. The thumb rule is "if ur Uni is very reputed (A rated by UKBA), its most likely that you will get it"...This visa can be applied only from inside UK ie when your previous visa (tier 4) is still valid...hope this helps...

Hi Nes,
Thanks for the info. I was wondering if you can ask your friend in Durham what she thinks are the placement scenario for the current and previous year MBA class? She probably knows some MBA folks out there. This would be a big help and will enable me to decide.
Thanks

Hi Mitesh
It takes about a month from your application being accepted to getting an offer. If you have had a good interview you can expect an offer within a week of your interview.
Thanks

Hi Yagna!
Your choice should actually boil down to Aston vs Durham. Bradford is a good and reputed school but a little lower in ranking (FT, EIU, Wall Street Journal) than the other 2.
if you are planning to work in UK post your MBA, then it is a good idea to look at the European or UK ranking of the schools. As per that Durham is ahead of Aston, also Durham features in the Wall Street Journal's ranking - which makes it better known in the North American region.
Having said that it is not easy to choose between Aston and Durham - have a look at the percentage of jobs found through the career services in these 2 schools (EIU profile) and the percentage mix of students - too many students from the same continent is never a good sign. Check the EIU profile for these schools and being an aspiring overseas student in UK, I believe, these figures will definitely tell you the result. Also look at the FT profile of these schools. It helps a lot to look closely at the individual figures in different categories.
I could have given you the verdict in here but would prefer you to go through the figures yourself, lest you might notice some other perspective that I have ignored.
Good Luck!
Thanks

Hey All,
I have also received an unconditional offer from Durham for 2010-11 MBA Class. I was given a deadline of 6 weeks from the date of my offer letter which is 27th Jan'10 and I have yet to decide. I have got an offer from Aston also but my preference is ofcourse Durham. Have asked the admission committee for the placement records but they have not replied so far.
