Hi there
I live in Australia and always wanted to pursue a MBA in US. I am 28 and have about 8 years of work experience in computing and IT. A good chunk of that is in managing teams and projects but not much if any entrepreneurial work .
I have not sat in the GMAT exam but I believe if I put my mind into it, I can do well. I have got a few questions. First, I really enjoy managing people, teams and making decisions. Thus I think getting a MBA will give me an edge in my career, an probably a private jet in the hangar :). Is there any future for someone with my background to pursue MBA? I know a lot of people from my industry has gone through the rigors of MBA just to graduate and get crappy jobs which they probably could have got without the degree.
Second, for someone in my line of work what will be a good B-school. Like everyone, I wish to go to Harvard just because of the sheer prestige value. Am I being naive or is there a better B-school out there? Please don't get me wrong, the champagne, caviar and the jetset life is quite appealing but what I really want to do is manage a large company and be good at my job and make a difference. Is MBA a good choice for me?
Third, will I be able to get any financial help/support for my studies, not being an American resident but being an Australian Passport holder?
Sorry about the long post.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
