Does anyone know how hard it is for a student to open a bank account in the UK? Please assume I'm an EU National, resident in the UK (because I will only apply for the account after my arrival), with a tenancy agreement taken in my name and with a letter from my university saying I am enrolled as a full time student on a 1-year course in which one will also be able to read my address (same as tenancy agreement).

It's very easy.

Thanks Duncan. I was just concerned because I keep reading online that opening a uk bank account is hard. I guess it's only if you get to to country and cannot provide proof of address in your name. I reckon if you meet all of the requirements I mentioned in my post the process should be fairly straightforward.

No, it's not hard if you're a European who is enrolling at a university. For example, take a look at Santander's International Student Current Account.
Getting credit is hard, but that's different.
