STRATHCLYDE MBM OR WARWICK MIM

Hi I am Vaibhav from India. i have got offers from STRATHCLYDE AND WARWICK and i am hell confused which one to join.
STRATHCLYDE being a business School has a very strong network in the management consultancy field, and its MBM course can be converted into MBA after 3 years of work experience. Plus next year in Glasgow, common wealth games will be there which will increase the job opportunity rate.
Whereas WARWICK on the other hand is a very big name in UK as well as in INDIA so if i wish to come back to India and work here, WARWICK is a better option. But then i tried talking with Warwick alumi and they all said that most of there batch mates dint get placed and its a very cold city/not advisable to live in,so Join strathclyde....
Most of my friends who got an offer from cass, oxford,EDHEC are thinking about joining Warwick and are still confused.
Please help me with the pro's and con's of each school. Specially considering that I need a school that will help me network in the management consultancy field!

Dear Vaibhav,

Strathclyde MBM: This is a strong program and also gives you the opportunity to top up to an MBA degree in future. considering you as an Indian candidate, MBA hold a lot of value in India therefore you would surely need to upgrade to an MBA after few years of your professional career. I do agree that commonweath games would enhance the job opportunity, but i am doubtful if this will have a major impact on employment for overseas students.
On the other side considering Warwick, Its a very strong brand in India and MSc degree from Warwick would surely help you in getting good opportunities, but you would need to do MBA again at later stage.

To conclude i would suggest to opt for an MBM from strathclyde over MSc from Warwick, considering your long term benefit of upgrading to an MBA.

Yas! Exactly but then if u go by the FT ranking or the guardian ranking WARWICK is the clear winner, and STARTHCLYDE dint make it to top 100 MBA school rankings this time, so a MBA from STRATHCLYDE wont be that good as compared to a MIM from WARWICK i guess.
And considering that STRATHCLYDE has opened its center here in India(Noida) offering MIM course i guess going to UK for the equivalent course from the same UNIVERSITY wont be advisable, but then MBM IS MBM...
I am still confused which one to go for! warwick or Stratchlyde..!! :(

no doubt Warwick is a big brand, if you look for a long term investment, strathclyde would be better, else you would need to spend again in your MBA.

Why would i need to do a MBA later i don't get.
I have seen many people who have done there MIM from cass, lse or WARWICK for that matter and are currently CEO'S and CFO'S of big management firms here in INDIA.
Is MBA that important? cant i get a decent job if i do only a Mim course??
anyhow if i want a job in UK only, then which university do you suggest, if going back to India is no more a option then what do you suggest STARTHCLYDE OR WARWICK??

The Strathclyde website explains the extra courses you take later to get the MBA after the MBM.

I could not see any reason for Doing Masters from Strathclyde at this stage with 2 years of experience and then again going for MBA after 1 year. Either you opt for a Master;s course in top B-School or wait for an year and go for an MBA.
To be honest at present it is difficult to get jobs in UK and MBM will not fetch you with desirable options in India either. However if you opt for Masters from top B=Schools, the chances are more to get employed in UK. and if you do MBA you will have better chances in India.

And for your information Strathclyde is offering their Masters program in India as well. so if you want you can do that In India at much cheaper price.

You can try for Warwick, Cranfield, Manchester, City University etc, however I would still suggest that you wait for 1 more year and try for MBA in 2014 once you have 3+ years of exp.
