Hi,
I have offer on MSC ITMOC course from Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) for this year, I have although accpeted the offer but not got into any financial proccessing, I would need help on deciding to take up the course or not. Job Market is really down so I thought this should be the right time to do my post graduation. I dint have much time to appear for GMAT and go for an MBA course thus thought of picking up something which is a mix of Management and IT . I have about 4 years of work exp in IT and once I complete my Msc ITMOC degree course what is the chances of finding a job in UK itself ?. Please share your opnion which would help in deciding if I am on the right path or not ?

Hi Nes,
Neda is my actual first name. Yea I have heard about her.
I have read the thread and thru the discussion I now know some of the drawback of the location but whn it comes to ITMOC course not much is actually discussed. I personally felt form the discussion tht this course cud be a little better than other MSc course of univ in UK.
MY only glitch is wud this course help me in picking up a job in UK itself. I would be investing a lot of money here and like I now know its very difficult to find a prt time job so as to support my education.
So it becomes imp that i find a job in UK. I have 4 years of good experience in IT field.
May I know your suggestions here..........

All such techno-managerial courses are somewhat aligned/inspired by IIBABOK and aims to produce business analyst.
Since you have been working in an IT Co. for 4 years I don't think I need to explain you what does a Business Analyst do...you must be well acquainted with the tier responsibilites.
Frankly there is no best/better school in the UK for these type of courses. All the schools are more or less alike.
The technical modules of the modules of the course are handled by the computer science faculty and the management modules by the B School. But yes, the brand name of a B School carries tremendous amount of weight to your CV which will help you secure a job.
Untill you actually enter inside a interview room you will have to run from pillar to post for an interview...you can see yourself running to career fairs, career center, head hunters etc...you have absolutely no advantage over a person having no experience at this stage. But once you have secured an interview your CV will do wonders. 4 yrs of exp. is actually gives you a huge advantage over others inside the interview room!
You being a non-EEA, nobody can promise you a job -- no counselor, no b school, no career center, no head hunter...no one...if someone does so, he/she is taking you for a ride. Job market for international students is bad but that doent mean no one gets a job. Many gets by sheer hard work (+ a pinch of good luck!) ... Its just that we need to be optimistic and stay focused.
All the best

Hey Neda,
I am a computers grad(BCA) and currently working in a NON IT firm, Aon hewitt in the HRO Benefits Business Unit. would it be advisable that i apply for the Msc ITMOC prog.
Uptil now i have thogt of applying for Msc mgmt prog as it would provide a footing to the business mgmt part as well and then later i can specialize in a field. What do u suggest?
