MBA or Master in Brand management and Marketing

Hello everyone,

I have few concerns which I would like to raise here to get your suggestions and feedback.

I have almost 4 years of work experience and working as a retail buyer in a reputed company since 16 months.

Since I'm managing multi brands portfolio, I have keen interest in learning about brand and product management.

I have came across a course that Kingston university is offering "MSC brand management & marketing" which really caught my eyes.

After having this much experience, I beleive that I should opt for MBA from Kingston that is accredited by AMBA which will give me a chance to learn about all aspects of business.

I need your suggestion on which program should I opt for giving the fact that I can spend upto 20K £.

If I'll go for MBA, shall it gives me a chance to learn insights about brand management along with other aspects or should I go for MSC "Brand management & marketing" which I really wanted to learn.

Your suggestion would be really appreciated.

Just a bit more on this... If you have been working for a mainstream firm then there is little that a masters will teach you about brand management in your industry.

Do you have a professional goal? Are you focussed on Greater London? Many students borrow for their masters,so why are you chosing a budget that excludes most of the best programmes?

When you say you manage multi brand portfolio. What is that you exactly do? Are you in procurement? or Do you decide - based on some analytics/metrics - which xxx brand to buy and how many quantity ?

Transitioning from your current experience into Brand Management using a non-top 10 program MBA or MSc would be one tough job. Are you currently working in UK? It will be tougher if you are from over-represented countries like India, Pakistan, China, Bangladesh etc.

Ask yourself, Why would a company hire you for Brand Management, or Product Marketing? If the only answer you could come up with is Kingston MBA or xxx MSc, then you need to do some introspection. Focus on skill gaps.
