Hi
This is my 1st post at Find MBA .. though have been following it for quite a while now ..
I am in a fix and need help and advice .. I have got an admit from Manchester, Lancaster and Strathclyde for the Sept 2010 MBA program..
I understand the pros and cons in terms of cost of these colleges/universities.. but would want to know more .. I have tried my bit but have not been sucessful in garnering too much of information ..
Post my MBA I am looking to work in the UK in the financial services sector (wealth management or asset management) .. so with respect to that if manchester gives me an advantage to look fr a job then I will be able to manage the funds and will take my decision accordingly .. but if it does not give me any distinct advantage as a brand name and for job hunting .. then might as well go for a cheaper option .. Strath is very good for strategy and Lancaster is higher ranked in the FT ranking. Pls need help and quick .. need to choose btwn the three ..
My profile is mentioned below-
Indian Male
Financial services professional with over 5 yrs of exp in the banking and non banking industry
CFA Level 2 Candidate
GMAT - 680
Good Ecs and decent Acads

It is true that Lanc is ahead of Manch...but will suggest on Manchester....I think the brand name of Manchester and location factor makes me to prefer.I think on academic aspects Lanc may be impressive...
Your decision is not going to be wrong what ever you choose....I dont want to mingle Strath here....

Thanks susee for taking up my query .. but I want to knw whether the Manc brand will help me in networking , while is it that lums will not provide me with that platform .. also is networking the only way one can get a job in the UK .. secondly is location that important in UK with respect to bagging a job or does it depend on an induviduals job interviews .. a reply to these questions would really help me make a choice as the cost and prog duration is not the same for both the institutes ..manc is 10000GBP more than lanc and is a 18 mnth course while lanc is 12mnths .. pls do reply .. thank you ... also looking for other opinions ..

Few weeks b4 I was checking different rankings...In that they criticized about Lancastar....The comment was "Some more arrangements could be made to attract more blue chips in the current recession period".........You can also check..Must be Economist rankings.....
As I told you earlier " any thing you choose between them is going to be a fair decision"
My suggestion is do explore with ref to your profile...For example some univ may have a good contact with consulting and some may be in banking.......That could be a right way..

From what I've read about Lancaster, they've got a reputation for having high standards of academics. Having said that, the course also sounds like the course is designed to be very practical in aligning you with your chosen career aspiration for when you graduate.
Have you spoken to any current students/graduates from the schools you're interested in? The site I liked to is like a network so you could try contacting one of the students through it?

Can somebody throw some light on Manchester's part-time (global) MBA programs offered through Dubai Centre. I have been offered a place on part-time MBA from Manchester (Dubai Campus) for July 2010 intake. I have 10+ years of experience in banking/financial services with B. Com. Is it treated at par with full-time Manchester MBAs in the industry ?

Hi All,
Is anyone still active with this post?
I have an offer from Strathclyde Business School... What do you all suggest with the current scenario?
