Hi Samarthin,
Both schools are AMBA accredited and ranked not that far from another in the Economist - Glasgow at 78 and Sheffield at 98 - both at the lower end of the ranking. when trying to deiced which one would be better for you, you should first compare the data carefully, to see which one would suit you more. you can start here:
http://mba.eiu.com/index.asp?layout=school_snapshot&university_id=1980471598&mba_program_id=1990471599&university_name=Glasgow%2C+University+of--+Business+School
http://mba.eiu.com/index.asp?layout=school_snapshot&university_id=1760471576&mba_program_id=1770471577&university_name=Sheffield+University+Management+School
look at the individual rankings carefully - for example - although in the over ranking Glasgow is higher, the career service in Sheffield is ranked way higher.
you should then think about the city itself - which city you think would best suit you ? this is very important, as you would be spending a long time there, and would also probably have your first post MBA job in the area.
trying to contact the alumni is always a good idea. and also trying to asses your chances of getting admitted.
good luck!

Hi,
Both MBA colleges are good. Glasgow is more research kind and Sheffield is more practical kind.
I have selected Sheffield MBA and i think i made the right decision. The career service here is amazing. And the course is interesting and gets you going.
Moreover the place is good. You can find more number of local people joining here.
1. Job opportunities - This actually depends on you. The career service here in Sheffield helps you to find jobs.
2. International reputation i think Glasgow is little more reputed but Sheffield is a better place. It is one of the safest place in UK. It is also cheaper than Glasgow MBA.
3. Career wise i think Sheffield. Because it has more industry tie ups.
I am not much sure about Glasgow but, Sheffield MBA is good.
If you are open to other Uni's like Nottingham, Kent, Start and Aston it is better.

Hi,
I also got an unconditional offer from sheffield. I talked to a Sheffield alumni... he said its an AMBA accedited B-school, holds a good reputation in UK.
Sheffield's career assistance team is good one. But then again..he was stressing upon the fact that Job scenario in UK has till not fully recovered.. all the more there are elections 3 months down the line.. so there is a possibility of enforcement of strict employment laws for international folks.
Freidns- BTW where are you from? May be we can be in touch if we are planning to go to Sheffield Wot say?

Hello ,
Sorry for delayed response! .Been busy attending university interviews and got thru univ of Nottingham and Kent , New castle. !
Anyways, I met professor ( forget her chinese name) and she teaches operational management and also asst. Dean for international office.
1. Job placements:
She told to use career service and alumni and usually its 3-6 months time Sheffield students wud get settled in jobs with in UK
2. Teaching methodoloyg:
She told its mix of case studies and theory . Good part is Exectuvie MBA students and FT MBA students will have a great rapport and cooperation so that we can seek help from them . After all they are more exp than us in INdustry .
3. Since sheffiled already have Amba , they have applied for AASCB certification and audit is on this Sep 2010.Good sign
4. She advised not to do any part time jobs since it will affect the studies for sure as MBA is very intensive . The more we concentrate the more we get indepth knowledge and it will help in Long run . Basically think in a bigger persepctive !:)
5 . Sheffiled as a city :
She said its beuatiful and cost of living is comparitvely less than other cities .
Its a nice exp to meet her.
Thanks
Nair

I heard Nottingham has better MBA than Sheffield, if not city!!! I am also planning to apply there but little confused as I have not given GMAT and my total exp is of 2 yrs with Citi Group. And nottingham has an application fee of 20GBP also. What do you suggest???
