In fact you can postponed your Bradford admissions to next year...Bradford offers that option...You can keep that as a backup....So you will not loose any thing....

Unfortunately I am unable to go for UK/Durham MBA this year. As I intend for a career change, so a Conventional 2 yr US MBA would suffice my needs. Therefore, after lots of introspection, I had to take this TOUGH CALL to quit my Durham offer.

Btw, on a safer side, can I Defer my offer @ Durham? I have asked for an Extension and it has been extended till 14th May.

Hey Wilson & Vips, congrats for the offer from Durham. I am not sure about Durham till now as considering between Lancaster Vs Durham. And with no scholarships from Durham, i guess i will opt for Lancaster.

Have you guys got any scholarships ?? or you know of anyone who got DBS scholarships. I haven't come across single person till now for 2010 intake who got some scholarship.

In my opinion, the current fee of GBP18k (after early bird discount) for Durham is very reasonable. They could have priced their MBA program at ard 21-22k, together with Strathcylde, Edinburgh, Leeds and Aston. So basically, Durham is giving every successful applicant a 2-3k discount or "scholarship" already.

The other school which i think is very value-for-money is Warwick which is abt 22k.

Work Experience: American with 5 years of progressive management responsibility in Human Resources
Education: BA in Public Admin. MA in HR and Employee Relations
MBA Purpose: International HR M&A Due Diligence and Integration
No GMAT
International Experience living in South Korea

@RSB: I have talked to quite a few Durham admits for 2010 and so far haven't found anyone with a scholarship. Seems they must have seriously trimmed down on the number. They could have published the names of the winners, would have added to their process transparency.
Durham is no doubt a good b-school but it is yet to gain a reputation as strong as Lancaster. Constant high ranks in the league tables has given Lancaster its own brand value in the business education arena.
I feel Durham would reach new heights in the coming years but as of now Lancaster wins the race.

@Dulsban: I completely agree with you, they should have shared the names and profiles of the winners, because i was given to understand that DBS scholarships are profile based and not need or nationality based so one can always do the benchmarking against the winners.

Hi, I notice the finance electives are pretty limited. Has anyone ask the school about why the finance specialisation in the MBA program was dropped? I read from some website that Durham's program is primarily focused on strategy and marketing. Looking at the choices in electives, this seems to be the case. Any thoughts?

Hello to the folks from US as well. Actually, i am pretty curious about the pull factors (beside lower costs and shorter length) which attract you guys to UK's MBA programs, in this case Durham, given that US has plenty of top-notch programs in the world.

How does the US corporates react to a UK MBA degree?

My main reason for seeking out UK school is 1- cost 2- gain different perspective 3- Obtain quality education 4- access to new opportunity. I believe you can get a degree from any school anywhere in the world but it is what you take from it and apply to your new venutre that matters. Most people in the states are blind to UK schools with the exception of Oxford, Cambridge, London Business School and LSE. I'm not really concerned as with the exception of a few high profile schools most people people in the states only really know and concentrate on schools within their region.
