Hi Folks,
My name is Vivek and this is my first post to this forum. I have a conditional letter from Glasgow and hope to see an unconditional in sometime. Also have an unconditional from Bradford. I have also applied to Aston and will be intervied by Strathclyde very soon. In this whole mix I need to find out which is a better institute. I heard Glasgow UK is also a pretty good university. I would appreciate all ur inputs in this matter. Thank You All.
Aston or Bradford?

hi , i have almost finalised on aston business school over strathclyde and bradford.. i did my own preferences analysis.. since we know that pref mba is scraped now.. choice should be made purely on the grounds of accred, research ratings raac 2001 and placements.. exchange program , class size, global mix.. placements percentage and your preferential line of career..
aston/ bradford/ strathclyde
1>rankings too confusing: ft global doesnt take aston into account because its small and fairly new in age as compared to strath and bradford so it scores very less over there and thus are out.. but when it comes to only uk certain factors are discounted and it scores well over them.. thats the hitch.. moreover its emba is ranked very well meas future alumnis at higher posts and good networking.. future prospects seems great. economists rankings seems to have much realistic figures .. go for that.
2> raac 5 for aston 4 for bradford .. strath i dont remember
mind you 4 is not good.
3> tripple accred.. aacsb is a accred given for advance curriculum.. means challenging material highly updated with latest researches.. this accred makes the us schools ahead of everybody.. so to have accsb makes lot of sense.. and a much global recognition. aston and strath stands brad out
4> class size less in aston than any of these.. you can churn more out of the faculties.
5> class mix.. lot of indians and chineese study in strath ..and brad.. again not healthy sign as you get limited`in the breath of network.. look at aston recruiting favourite countries.. malaysia.. germany .. taiwan.. russia.. apart from uk india and china..
sounds too good at global front.. strath and brad.. largely into uk india china.. though they are emmerging economies but mba is all about generalization not specialization.
6> xchange program.. only in aston.. again it shows the well thought mba ..
7> lakeside accomodation.. my heart on it.
8> placements.. aston is very aggressive as compared to other two.. with no hsmp advantage.. students in these colleges will find it hard.. scotland less job opprotunities..
9> as per the feedback i have got.. aston has the best industry links among the three..
so according to my waited average method aston>>strath>>bradford.
i ll appreciate if anybody can add value to my research..
help me to take decision or reinforce my decesion .. i have very less time..
hi hersh even i have got thru aston & planing to send my final notification...also will b lookin for accom in case you get any info let me know...wud appreciate & looking forward to c u bye

Accreditation by AACSB is great but I wouldn't make that requirement for your decision. Some of the best business schools in the UK are not AACSB certified, ie Cass, Saïd, Judge, and Tanaka. Also, as an American, I can tell you there are many AACSB schools here that hardly compare to Bradford, Aston or Strathclyde.

hi! I am new to this site. I intend pursuing a management course this year. I am currently debating between sheffield and Aston. As you mite have guessed, I am running short of time and need to freeze the college at the earliest. Request you to advise me . I am particularly interested in knowing the quality of eduction and career prospects. If you could draw a parallel comparison between the univs it would be great!!
Thanks

Hi i am new to this site ...i got offer from Bradford and Aston..I think both Aston and Bradford is better because every body commented about the Birmingham city,Economist rankings, and near to London and because of that they are giving preference to Aston MBA ...In my opinion the best way to judge the School is to have a look of their courses they are offering ,then campare those courses with your requirments ..,if u are satisfied then go for it...Dont think about the city, location because u are not going to live forever in that city...Getting an employment after MBA is depend on ur personal skills and your pre MBA experinece...

Cool, are you accepting the Bradford offer? They have asked for a hefty amount for seat confirmation. 4K GBP.
Please do share any info on the Loan search as I am yet to start.

To the folks that were applying for the Sept 2009 intake:
Did you make up your mind about what school you are choosing? I got an uncon offer for Bradford but I admit I am a bit hesitant.
I've been reading ranking charts all day and the Bradford MBA seems to be dropping lower all the time. In addition, I am expecting an offer from the Athens University of Economics and Business which although it doesn't appear in FT rankings, it seems to be gaining the employers confidence on a European level.
Has anyone else heard about the AUEB MBA? Do you think the Bradford MBA is worth the time and effort?
Thanks in advance
~M~

If I had to choose between Bradford and Athens, I would certainly choose Bradford.
Remember rankings are only a rough guide of the level of education, and depend heavily upon surveys, brand, and wide array of factors that I didn't appreciate until recently.
Bradford is very good school and its location provides a number of advantages, particularly proximity to other business students in other very good business schools. Its location, although not in a major city, is not far from large areas of business, namely, Birmingham, Manchester, and of course, London.
You might also want to consider where you want to work afterwards, and consider which school would help you in getting a job or setting up a business there.
This is something that makes the UK, France and Spain such good destinations for business education.

Guys, which MBA is good, in terms of employability and quality of education? Aston or Bradford?
cheers!
It depends on your own that how do you attempt your MBA. Quality matters but capability acts as a catalyst.

I would like to thank all the contributors on this thread,it was really useful for me although I am only going for an Msc. After much thought I'm stuck between Bradford & Aston
- I like Bradford because of it's on every single ranking, and I get to study at Em Lyon in France for part of my program
- But I also like Aston, because of it's tripple ranking and the AA ranking as this would help me have a carrer in USA if I decide that.
I would like to know if I can study at Bradford and still have carrear in USA

^ Choose Aston...its not there on the list since its relatively new compared to most of the UK Schools up there in FT.
Aston, anyday is a better option when pitted against Bradford.
