US World and News Report just wrote a piece about high-ranking MBA programs that take GRE scores instead of GMAT. They say it's demonstrating a new trend - that the GMAT test is becoming outdated and potentially irrelevant.

Ralph thinks that it's not about relevance, but economics - I wouldn't be surprised if ETS and GMAC (the publishers of the GRE and the GMAT, respectively,) don't have some kind of financial arrangements with each of the schools, to favor their test over the other. They're standardized tests, and I don't see any point in calling one more relevant than the other.

Either way, here's the list of schools that US World and News Report ranks as the best that take the GRE over GMAT:

1 (tie): Harvard University and Stanford University
3. MIT(Sloan)
7. Dartmouth (Tuck)
9. NYU (Stern)
11. Yale
13. University of Virginia (Darden)
14. Duke (Fuqua)
16. UT - Austin (McCombs)
19. Washington University in St. Louis (Olin)
