As I said, wait until you get at least 1 1/2 year of work experience. It doesn't have to be paid work experience (while you work to at least survive until the MBA). Do volunteer work in your community. This will count as work experience. While you do so, prepare and retake the GMAT. Score ideally in the 650-700 range. Applications are in decline since 2009. Your profile will be much more competitive in 2014 and you should even be able to get acceptance at a second-tier program with volunteer experience and a GMAT score in the 650-700 range. This will make a huge difference 10 years down the road.
Think about the future, don't rush the MBA experience. You will be much happier with a second-tier MBA than a non-ranked MBA in 10 years.
Low GMAT score! :(

What's your GMAT? What are your goals? Thunderbird's not great for employment...

The FT has data for career progression and placement: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/global-mba-ranking-2013

Thanks Duncan.
I have gone through ft as well as Businessweek. Though figures look promising, I ask for your personal opinion on this one.

Personal opinion about what? I think the data are very clear. Whether it's a good fit really depends on an individual goals, not the progression. What matters is whether the school takes you where you want to go.

Sir,myself Tanvir .My major was Marketing with a C-GPA of 3.04 out of 4. I got 6.5 in IELTS and 330 in GMAT (verbal & quantitative), 3 in IR and 4.5 in Awa.Therefore is that possible to get a chance to admit in any US university ranked (300-600) for full time MBA degree
Posted Mar 31, 2013 01:10
Retake the test. Take a look at this guidance: http://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/scored-just-330-in-gmat-advice-please-t10335.html

sir.this is tanvir, Is GRE is widely accepted for MBA in USA Business School? I have found that i can score better in GRE than Gmat, because,I'm well enough in quantitative but so poor in verbal, basically in answering critical reasoning and reading comprehension. It took huge time to understand and answer. Therefore,is that possible to get a chance to admit in US Business School with average GRE School.

hi Duncan, have seen a lot of value adding comments from you on FindMBA forum.
I am a Software Professional with 7 years of work ex and aspired to do an MBA from US, majoring in Product and Brand Management. I have taken GRE (since I was initially looking at MIS / MSM too) and my GRE score is 304. I am a computer science graduate (MSc) with a GPA of 3.7
Could you please suggest good MBA schools to me preferably in West Coast?

No. I can't. Please take the GMAT if you want to go to a good business school, not the GRE.

Hey Duncan,
I got a score of 690. I have no workex. I'm a 2013 B Tech CSE pass out. Planning to go for 2014 Fall. I will work meanwhile. I am a volunteer for an NGO. I'm always interested in Extra- Curricular Activities. Please suggest some universities.
Thanks a lot,
Amulya

Try these: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2012 Add the field called "Relevant Degree" (which means that you need a prior degree in business) and look for the programmes that say "No".
These are much, much better than the 'freshers' MBAs'.

In the US these are called MS degrees, not MSc. Take a look at https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3A.edu+MS+marketing+gmat+400&oq=site%3A.edu+MS+marketing+gmat+400&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.17579j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Given your high IELTS score, I think it will be easy for you to dramatically improve your GMAT with 50 or 100 hours of study.

thanks Duncan for ur reply
I don't think I can have more than that
I took it more than once
and this was the highest result although I had a well and long preparation with a supervisor
I will check the link
thanks again

What was the breakdown in your score? Did you have a high verbal score and a low quant score?
