The right MBA for people like me

JayBee

I have an Islamic law degree from a Malaysian university;
I have 7 years working experience and still working;
I have a family.

Seek suggestion on the followings;
1) Is it near impossible to submit application to Ivy league business schools or HEC, Paris?
2) Is there full scholarship for an MBA program? Heard that Saudi Arabia public universities provide full scholarship.
3) If there is financial assistance, do you think being an Uber Driver could support my family financially?

Of course you can submit your application to top schools. Your success will depend on a number of factors, such as the quality of your work experience and your GMAT score. The average GMAT for successful applicants to HEC Paris is 685, for instance.

For the Ivy's -- Ivy League membership is not the greatest sorting factor for business schools, by the way -- the average GMATs will usually be over 700, at Harvard it's 730 and at Dartmouth it's 717.

Full scholarships for these schools and most other competitive MBA programs will be very hard to come by. However, there are many scholarships available, depending on you, your background, and your leadership experience, and these will vary by school. In general, schools in Asia, the UK and Europe will be more affordable than schools in the US. That's a big generalization though, so do your own research.

In terms of being an Uber driver, whether you can or not will depend on your visa. Some study visa do not allow employment, depending on what country you're in. And it's often hard to juggle even part-time employment while doing a full-time MBA.

I'm not sure if the Saudi Arabian schools provide full scholarships. Ask them. But unless you want to work in Saudi Arabia, an MBA from a Saudi Arabian school will not have the same impact on your career as a ranked school elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor and focus on your career goals and then make your MBA decision.
