Hi Everybody ,

I am following GMAT club from last 4 months but this is my first post here . I am a 28 year old male from India and i like saying that i am not from an engineering background :) . Yesterday i took my GMAT exam and scored exactly 700 (Q49 - 81%ile , V37 - 83%ile) . From my knowledge of practice tests i can say i will get at least 7 in IR and atleast 5 in AWA section . My profile is as following :-

EDUCATION
Bachelors in Science with Physics ,chemistry and Math
Masters in English Literature
MBA in marketing with 67% marks from one of the good Universities of India

WORK EXPERIENCE
Was the only one to get Pre-placement offer on the basis of my summer training
Joined Glaxo smith Kline consumer Healthcare ltd and handled Punjab region as a territory sales executive for 2 years and 7 months before immigrating to Canada

EXTRA ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Was part of the mega-successful launch of world's number 1 sensitivity toothpaste , Sensodyne , and received a Spirit award
Some other awards at GSK and attended 3 international conferences at Malaysia , Thailand and Dubai
Won a silver medal in chess at University level and was the captain of school and college cricket team

CURRENTLY i am working with THE BRICK ( The largest retailer of Furniture , appliances and electronics in Canada ) as a Sales Consultant . My current job is very challenging and solely commission based . I was working full time while preparing for GMAT and never joined any coaching classes .

Can anybody please tell me how good my profile sounds and which all schools should i target .

Regards .

Hi Duncan,

Thanx for ranking me in the interesting category :) . My career goal is to become as effective as i can in saving the innocent and speechless animals from being butchered for meat . I am a vegetarian person and i am extremely fond of animals and birds . Well, i know i cannot state this as a goal in my B-school application so i will have build a story around it . I am least interested in accumulating wealth doing a boring office job . Neither i am interested in working for humanity as i feel all humans are more or less capable of helping themselves . I am very much interested in helping animals and birds and i want to make a huge impact . I want to use a B-school as a tool to help me put my act together . I hope i am making some sense here :) . For ex:- Becoming a CEO of a worlds number one 1 meat producing company and then completely demolishing it using my treachery...;)...!!

Well, I think you can build a story about it - by saying that you want to build a business that does that. So that probably doesn't mean destroying a company, but diversifying it out of the meat industry as Nokia moved out of the wire industry.

So are you focussed on the US? My instant feel is that you should look at Northwestern.

I am a Canadian Permanent resident and an Indian Citizen . I am open to move anywhere in Canada or US or Europe as i am a bachelor . Only thing i want is a good B-school . which ones do you think i have a realistic chance of getting into with my profile and GMAT score . Moreover how much GPA my 65% in MBA will make ...... As i already have an MBA , do i really need high GPA's to prove that i can do it again ......Do i have a slight chance of getting into one of top 10......what are my chances of getting into Schulich , Rotman or Queens MBA in Canada.......sorry the question mark key is not working...:)

I think you have a really appealing profile: cross-sector; cross-continent; and you've had solid sales experience. So, that's very interesting for any schools that's not a conveyor belt into consulting and finance. So I think Rotman's not a great fit, since it's a finance school on a par with NYU and Columbia. But Schulich or Queens should be quite interested in you.

Thanx for the encouragement Duncan . I personally also want to try the top 10 first before joining any of these tier 2 canadian B-schools . Though my GMAT score is not very impressive by i got that desired 80/80 percentile split in Verbal and Quant . As this will be my second MBA i do not want to make any compromises this time . I can easliy increase my GMAT score if required and then try again after 6 months . You mentioned Northwestern , if i am right that is same as Kellogg business school i guess . That is where i would really love to go . If you really think i have a 10-20% chance at something like Kellogg's then its really a compliment for me .

Yes, Northwestern University is the home of the Kellogg school. Its average GMAT is 708, so your GMAT s certainly close enough. Make sure you apply in round one. Register with them now https://kellogg.askadmissions.net/emtinterestpage.aspx?ip=connection
