Henley business school

Emma@87

I got an offer from Henley business school and I had almost decided to choose Henley.
However, it was surprising to me that I unexpectedly found a very negative review about Henley in this forum.
Hence, I am now becoming unsure whether Henley is a good choice to me or not.

Could anyone provide positive information about Henley?
I would like to decide my choice, considering both sides' opinions.

- I am working for a consulting firm and intetested in international business management and marketing.
- My supervisor reccomended me to choose Henley because its study environment including class characteristic looks good.
- He also said that don't stick to ranking too much because he knows many colleagues those who haven't been successful even though they graduated from top 10 b-school worldwide.
- Although I think that Henley looks very good b-school considering the environment and the past record, I have a concern after reading the review I mentioned above.

It would be very helpful if anyone gives positive feedback about Henley.
(Though negative feedback is also fine, I prefer to know positive side because I already read a negative review.
I want to consider pros and cons fairly!)

Whether or not the reviews are useful, your supervisor's approach is not quite right. Most Henley programmes are not taught at the historic Henley campius. Most are at Reading, which looks like any other UK campus university like Nottingham or Keele.

The argument that there are outliers from the overall pattern is less compelling than the fact that there are big differences between schools. Clearly it doies matter because average outcomes are much better at better schools.

Henley is clearly good, but it's a stretch to say that it's very good. Why not attend a better school if you can? How can it hurt to go to a better school?

Thank you for your advice, Duncan.
The problem in considering other schools is that I maybe have to postpone the timing to start of my MBA enrollment if I choose other school.

Because the timing when I started to consider applying for MBA programme in 2017 was little bit late, in the beginning of December of the last year.
Although I just started to study GMAT after Henley's admission, and I think I can achieve good GMAT score if I have enough time to prepare, I'm not sure whether I can do it by the final round for the enrollment in 2017.
I have only left 2 months and half approximately.

In addition, I was awarded of a scholarship but it will be available only for 2017.
So, I have been struggling to make my decision in this time, whether to postpone the timing or not.

I am a female consultant with almost 9 years experiences in major global consulting firms.
Maybe I have many chances if I apply for programmes in 2018, by postponing the enrollment timing.
However, I am not sure whether the situation of my family allows me to postpone my enrollment or not.
These are the reasons why I would like to consider the potential of Henley further.

Anyway, thank you for your kind advices!

Focus on your goals not the scholarship. The financial advantage is always with a better programme. Surely Lancaster, Durham, Edinburgh or Strathclyde would be very keen to have you in the cohort? There are some January starts: Bradford, Edhec, HEC, Rotterdam maybe...

Also, and it could be - depending on GMAT - a stretch, try Cranfield. They will discount your gmat to take account of your gender and nationality.

Hi As the Programme Director of the Henley FTMBA I'd strongly encourage you to come to our Reading campus and spend a few hours with our current FTMBA students. They will be able to give you an honest and accurate view of life as a Henley FTMBA student. You would also be welcome to attend a class and get to see Henley learning first hand.
Whatever you end up deciding, I wish you all the very best for your MBA studies.
Kind regards
Alison
