WHU, Germany

Hi,

My name is Pranal Rai. I am from engineering background and currently having total 6 years of professional experience with U.K. client. I have GMAT score of 620 and IELTS 7.5.

I had applied in WHU for full time MBA for session staring from March 2010. I have got the admission on this school. Along with this i have also applied to -> HHL, IMPERIAL, SAID, BATH, CASS. Bust i have not got the confirmation from any of the schools apart from WHU, so i am in sort of dilemma, whether i should go ahead and join the WHU or wait for other school's reply?

Could you please suggest me on this? Also please advise, looking at my profile, whether WHU is a good choice for me?

Your quick response will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Pranal

Hi there,

Without any doubt WHU is one of the Top 3 schools in the German speaking region (together with Mannheim and St. Gallen). However, they are mainly known for their EMBA and their BSc/MSc. Their fulltime MBA is very small (approx. 25 students per year). On the other hand WHU is well-known for a very good company network in Germany.

In my opinion, Said and Cass are better alternatives. However, doing an MBA in Germany might be the right choice now as the country does not suffer as much from the crisis as UK or USA.

HHL cannot keep up with any of the schools you have mentioned. Imperial and Bath are ok, but nothing special.

Best,
JL

Thanks JohnnyL for your kind and speedy response.
Yes...SAID & CAAS are better alternatives, however i have not received any confirmation from them and the classess of WHU will be begining from 1st march. That is the cause of dilemma and hence looking for expert advices.

Apart from this, is the compensation after MBA from WHU is competitive enough as far as considering the other schools, i have applied?

Pranal

Johnny got a point there. The economy is not in favor of the anglo-saxon countries (ie. UK).
That's a pity.
But if you look at germany, it is still the economic powerhouse in EU.
So you cannot go wrong with WHU.

Can you call both SAID & CASS admission folks?
Ask them about your pending application status.
If there are still no decisions yet, go for WHU.
That's what I will do. better safe than sorry.

When do you have to answer them? did they give you some kind of dead line - if so, i would wait till the dead line is near, and contact the other schools just before(like Rhino suggested). i think waiting is good if you can - not sure how telling about being accepted to another schools effects your admittance chances....

Thanks all for your kind suggestion.

Today i have received the response of WHU on scholarship and they have offered me 15k euro out of 35k.
I have realized that WHU award Diploma in general management and it is not degree in MBA. Does this factor also needs to be considered before accepting the offer?

Thanks alot for your suggestions.

Yes, WHU award MBA degree. i was got confused.

Could you also please suggest, whether after doing MBA, it will be difficult to relocate India/US/UK after having 1-2 years of experience in Germany?

Hi Pranal

Did you enroll with WHU MBA program?
If so , how did you find the program and faculty?
Would you recommend it?
I am keen on WHU MBA too, so it'd be great if you could help.
