MSc at Trinity or MBA at HWR

Hello,

I am a 29 year-old lawyer from Latin America with 3 years of experience. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and intermediate German.

I applied for the MSc Management in Trinity College Dublin and also for the MBA in HWR. Didn't have time to take the GMAT to go for Trinity's MBA, and I have to choose between one of those now (I don't want to postpone the master's any longer).

I've read most of the posts about both schools, but still not sure which one I should go for, considering that I might be too old for the MSc class and knowing that HWR is not the best choice in Germany. What would you guys suggest for me?

The intention is to stay abroad, so I hope to redirect my career in order to find work (since Law is quite limited for that).

Why not take the GMAT and go to a better school that starts in January?

HWR makes no sense if you want to work here. Come here and take an intensive German course maybe? The GMAT is really not that hard for you and there might be options like Edinburgh or Vlerick

Yes, I thought so too about HWR. I didn't try UK due to visa issues, I'm not really confident I'd manage to stay after studying.
So do you believe it's not worth it going for the MSc, even if it is at TCD?

TCD is a good option, but you could aim for a great option.

why do you say WHR is a bad idea if you do not work in Germany?
Probably someone has other experience, but my friends say that name of the school if extremally important and if name consists of big capital city mane - thats good.
Like, there is little difference between
Berlin School of Economics
Stockholm School of Economics
London School of Economics
because people who will hire you most likely have no idea about ranks, they just look CV of 30 candidates, picking up schools which have decent names.

On a local market people whill definitelly know that HWR is not good, but what if you move to New York or London? will they check ranks or just look up the name which looks good "cityname business school" ?

That's hilarious. When they say the name matters, they mean the name-recognition matters. The LSE is the world's top school of social science. HWR is not. No comparison.

Traditional MBA recruiters know the top schools internationally, and use a range of tools to assess quality.

So that is how London School of Business and Finance finds students!
Haha! I always wondered :)
