MBA in UK or Germany

AnNaFF

Hi!

Assume you are a German citizen and interested in doing an MBA with a specialization in entrepreneurship, probably in the area of Computer Science and/or Law.

I wonder if it will be a disadvantage when doing the MBA outside of Germany, maybe learning about law and taxation rules that might be, for instance, valid for the UK, but not for Germany?

What do you think?
What if you plan to get self-employed, what if you plan to stay employed?

Thx.

To answer all those questions you should first answer to:
1) for your business will you need UK or German law knowledge?
2) will your business be local or international?
3) do you need more a local or a global network?

1) German law
2) At the beginning local
3) At the beginning a more local network

But, as said, it is not for sure that I will start my own business; it might also happen that I stay with my current employer and that is an international IT company :)

So, there is a trade-off to make...

Much of the key IT legislation in Germany and in the UK is European law, and is thus identical.

Why not look at the WHU-Bucerius MBL (http://www.bucerius.whu.edu/Why_MLB.157.0.html) or the TUM-HHL MBA (http://www.innovationprogram.de/partners/program_partners.html)

Latter is extremely interesting, but 28000 EUR is a lot of money which I am currently not willing to spent. Apart from that it looks like the perfect program. *thinking*

Oh, and it is not a DL program... traveling to Munich every 2nd weekend... *thinkingAgain*

28,000 isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things. You can expect an MBA to add hundreds of thousands of euros to your lifetime income; it's almost certainly the best financial investment you'll ever make.

Of course the option of studying in Germany is only viable in you're in Europe, so I'd thought you were considering that as an alternative to DL.

I'd imagine there are are also executive education classes or certificates in Germany for IT. These are generally a few days, but most of them are focused, so I bet you'll be pretty up to speed on laws, etc.

So, assuming you are here in the UK, I would say this is a viable option, too:
UK MBA + specialized executive education top-up in German
