MBA for engineer?

daire

Hi all!
looking for some career advice, i'm 29/30 years old, with 8 years telecom exp, GMAT 710. Originally a BEng Computer engineer, currently working as telecom architect /product manager. Thinking of going into mainstream consulting and wondering would an MBA help my career, and whether a one or two year MBA is better for someone like me - who doesn't have a lot of core business experience - but has some customer interaction and consulting experience.
Any Ideas? Also wondering on ROI, as at the moment earning ?80k a year, and i'm unsure if the cost of an MBA in somewhere like Spain's IE is justificable seeing the average wage after receiving MBA. Thoughts?

Hi daire

Do you want to continue staying in Europe? If you do, you may consider business schools like INSEAD, Oxford or Cambridge for your profile.

McKinsey hires MBAs from top business schools every year and if you can graduate from these schools, you would have a potential opportunity to work in the company, IF this is what you want to do for your post-MBA career.

Good luck.

Kind regards,
Thomas

Hello
Hello!Greetings.Reading your post I understand you have an experience of getting into EMBA and you highly recommend an EMBA. It was my inability to get into the FT -MBA on time that makes me look at EMBA. Looking ta the best MBA Schools at UK , and going by the triple accreditations as choice .
Given a choice between Executive MBA Henley and Aston or Durham FT MBA which is the better choice.
Is it comparable at all, the Executive MBA and Ft-MBA are they on similar lines and if they are how and if not how
Which is better :course wise and career option and their rating and ranking and reputation at UK and world market.
Also Henley Accelerated FT executive MBA is more expensive in comparison to FT-MBA of Aston
Which is a better choice? .
I would like to add I have been an Engineer and working as an executive in IT-Telecom so the nature of the job is managerial yet technical management alongside of all teh associated management of the Telecom services .In short although technical teh job profile has more of management rather than technology innovation. Also I have 15 years of experience.
I am sure I want to do FT-and not part time .
I am not looking at a part time job ,as I seriously want to be focussed and a job I think maybe a digression .
I am a self funded student and so am looking at a University that will be affordable too.
I have restricted myself to UK university.
I am open to change in career after the MBA and am looking into a career shift.I mean I am open to leaving the present organistaion and am looking at a company that will be Globally competitive .and having a Global perspective
The idea of MBA is to upgrade my position and post and will have to change countries and organisation.
With 50,000 MBAs coming out every year ,after all teh effort, money and time invested which would give an edge teh FT-EMBA or FT-MBA

I suggest people reply to you at http://www.find-mba.com/board/30833/1#post-30833, where you have made essentially the same points.
