MBA Choice

M0E007

Hi
I got admitted to Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. I am also in contact with HHL Leipzig. If I got admitted to HHL Leipzig, which one to choose?
I am pursuing an MBA to shift to finance sector so I feel inclined to Frankfurt School even though it might not be as strong to HHL Leipzig.
Duncan, I hope you are reading this because I like your comments so I really need and appreciate your advice on this
Thanks

The big difference is the length. The HHL degree is a good choice if you need the extra time to improve your German and take more electives. If you already have German and domain knowledge then Frankfurt could work better.

Duncan, thanks a lot for your reply.
You are right, I need extra time for both my Geman language and more electives in Finance since I am shifting to this sector.
If I got admitted to HHL, then I will choose it over FS.

HHL has been around longer than Frankfurt in the MBA market but if it comes to the finance industry then Frankfurt is miles ahead of HHL. The FT even ranked Frankfurt as #5 for finance worldwide a couple of months ago. They have the benefit of being in Frankfurt and have years of experience as a finance specialist bschool. I didn't graduate from either school but I work now in the region and know the Frankfurt graduates are well ahead in the finance industry.

The big question is whether you really have a chance of switching to the finance sector after a 1 year MBA. This is something that neither school will be able to help significantly with.

You can't compare apples and oranges easily, but I think we agree on one point: the Frankfurt MBA will help you accelerate in finance but maybe not move into it. So, if you want to move into it, what are the options? Finance is only the number three sector for HH:L, but it can place people in a broad range of finance roles, from Allianz to Deutsche Bank and from GE Capital to the IFC. The 21-month track allows you to take an internship in finance and to take additional electives in finance. Okay, there are no guarantes but I can't think of a better masters to support a career change into finance in Germany.
