Does onyone know more about HEC? There are so many programs called HEC worldwide that I wonder if it is one school or just a common abbreviation ("Haute Ecole des Commerce"). HEC Paris does have worldwide contact addresses: http://www.mba.hec.edu/mba/site/mba_program/contact_us/contact_us.80.html

Back to the original question: Another good French school is Sciences Po (Paris).

HEC is one of the best business schools for an MBA in Europe, and it´s based on Paris.
In France, you find Insead and HEC, both are the best in the country, then you find others MBAs but with less prestige. So, no doubt that HEC will be a very good investment.

Prestige in one thing. But you need to evaluate your personal ROI (return on investment). Sciences Po MBA has the advantage to have both: it benefits from the prestige of Sciences Po's brand, last only 9 months and is much more affordable than HEC, INSEAD and many American MBAs. And it is located at the heart of Paris (Quartier latin), which is pretty good...

Think of as an investment. HEC will open opps with higher salaries, more diversity, better satisfaction, and also quality of the network, teachers,..... and consider the fact that HEC is not expensive!!
But I agree with you that location is by far better in Scenses Po, in the heart of Paris, not outside and campus as Hec.

Besides those schools mentioned above, I can only advise to take into consideration some of the bschools in other parts of France then Paris, e.g. E.M. Lyon..

Here is some interesting information on Sciences Po, collected by wikipedians:

I am American with a low GMAT score but 5 years of owning my own business and very good recommendations. I want to study in France, UK or Switzerland. What programs would be a good match?
Posted Aug 29, 2007 11:12
In case you want to continue with your own business after finishing the MBA, you should not look for the "names" but for a program where you'll learn a lot and benefit know-how-wise for your work. Anyways, with a low GMAT you might have problems being accepted to schools with a "name".
Did I understand well your goals? Please confirm. I will try then to guide you a bit regarding suitable French MBA programs.

I considered INSEAD and HEC but the tuitions are high.. And HEC length time is more than one year. There is any alternative university with a good reputation as well?

Other good schools in the Paris region are
- ESCP-EAP European School of Management - Paris Campus,
- ESSEC Business School
They are not ranked as far as I know, but high standard schools.

Hi,
I'm a French student.
To be honest, in France, nobody knows INSEAD. Its reputation outside the country must be really good (I was told there is a connection with Stanford or MIT...), but not in France. INSEAD students are older than in the other BS.
For French students, the Business Schools' ranking is :
1. HEC
2. ESSEC
3. ESCP
4. EM Lyon
5. EDHEC
The three first schools are called "les 3 Pa" as they are based in or near Paris and are really good. Every French student preparing the (very) selective entrance exam dreams of these 3Pa. I think it's like the Ivy league in the US.
Good luck,

Lowayk, I find that hard to believe. Is France really that insulated from international opinion to believe that INSEAD doesn't have the same kind of reputation? It has one of the most respected programs in the world.

This is true for Masters. All these schools are also ranked in top 10 European Masters according to the FT rankings. They are currently trying to increase their competitiveness in MBA and PHD segments.
Insead cannot be compared since it is a MBA and PHD oriented education institution. Also trying to offer top Master education.

Hi,
Recently got accepted in to MSc Finance in EDHEC. Was wondering what is its standing in terms of reputation with employers in Europe and Asia?

hello everyone,
My name is Ankit and I am totally confusd between ESSEC and GGSB.
I am a Hotel Management graduate with 3.5yrs of Managerial experience in US,UK and France. and want to switch to Marketing. GMAT- 600
Got admission in ESSEC in Hospitality but somehow feels that spending 35000 is not worth on this program as I want to be in Marketing.
I am looking for Msc in Marketing from GGSB but the thing is that its not an MBA and dont know how is the course reputation in the Market.
TOTALLY CONFUSED...............
