I am currently studying in the MBA course at the WUTBS. The course is OK at best; strange focus at times, boring & uninspiring lecturers who prefer death by powerpoint over interaction, few case studies, huge variations in lecturers (some have been great, most are average at best)... I can go on, but the two concerns that I really have are the marketing and the treatment and respect given to the students by the management.
The marketing of the course is very good, to the point that they can even print on your diploma that it is a joint venture school with LBS. This is an out and out lie which one of the professors even admitted to being uncomfortable with. LBS and the other very nice universities they appear to be partners with are only the founders; they have nothing to with the operating of the school and certainly are not academically connected. When we found out, there was a collective astonishment around the class as we felt that, ok, the course is quite disappointing, but it is from a very respected institution, so the name will carry. Now it appears to have been a very expensive and very incorrect assumption.
Secondly, the administration is generally crap. There are a lot of small issues that irk us to no end, but the icing on the cake has been a recent discussion with the Dean, Prof. Orlowski. A student went to see him to discuss some issues he has had with the course, the style of teaching and evaluation. The meeting had been promised for several months and the Dean knew that the student was unhappy. Upon finally granting the meeting, the first thing out of his mouth (the dean's) was "we have a problem with you".
I know this student well since we spend time together everyday for the past 5 months and he is about the most laidback guy you could find. The Dean was out of line, and furthermore, doesn't really care as he has shown through his repeated actions. I would love to type on and on, but it will just end up me calling him and the school exactly what I think.
Point is, don't go. Find another, ignore the rankings as they are paid for certainly and manipulated by the marketing department of the school, and we have seen, through the admissions of one of the professors, is operating under questionable ethical guidelines. If Poland it is, try Kozminski as I have head they are quite good and focus on acquiring rankings by results.
Invest more wisely, go somewhere else
