Done with MBS interview. It was pretty decent. Lets see when I hear back from them. She asked me about my availability for next week. Although she also told that admissions director is on vacation and it might take some time as well.

Had a very short and sweet interview HHL with the Junior Professor in Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer. He asked for my previous startup experience, why MBA in Germany and why HHL?
Then he asked me if I had any questions. I was surprised as it was only 10 minutes in the interview. I figured it was over for me at HHL. I asked him about the entrepreneurship at HHL as to why it produces so many startups? He answered that at length and then told me he will recommend my application. He was good enough to tell me about the whole German job scenario, living costs as well as salaries etc.
He did ask me about my finances in the last for which I told him that I ll be funding myself and will take a loan probably. He suggested I apply for a scholarship. I told him since my score is 630 and minimum required for scholarship is 650, I am not eligible to apply. He said he will get that waived for me and I should go ahead and do it.
Overall a great interview. He did renew my interest in HHL (as so far I have been inclined towards Mannheim). Fingers crossed till I get my official admit though.

Hey MBA,
Glad to hear both interviews went well! You should get the results back very soon, probably next week since its Friday. I had my HHL interview before I took the GMAT and they let me know within a few days after I submitted my score to them. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Wait-listed...?? She emailed you or she told you that on the interview itself... ??
She also told me same thing about Indian applicants that there are lot of applications...
And yep same details about the scholarships... I guess I wont qualify because of the GMAT...
I actually was quite surprised by interview with HHL... After the interview I am also inclined towards them...

Oh yep... Thats because the admission director is going on a week leave starting 3rd for 1 week... And all the interview slots are filled up for next week... Thats what she told me... :-)

Thats what my thinking was as well... But after HHL interview I ll have to rethink... :-) I will check more facts about job market... Geography... Alumnus and local employment scene etc...

I know from past students that HHL does indeed give excellent job prospects after graduation though. I know a student that found a job very very quickly after graduation, and they say most have offers before graduation. It definitely depends on the student though. Some are more active than others with marketing themselves and looking for jobs. I think us 3 won't have a problem, depending on your level of German of course haha. While I was in Mexico this week I actually met a lady from Frankfurt, had a nice long conversation with her. I miss German and German people :).

I think everything boils down to what you want and how you want it. I think right connections will get us a job anywhere... Moreover in the interview the Prof told clearly that the alumnus who have founded start ups do come to visit the university and pick up a lot of students.
In the end, I do believe in myself and I think that guys who want something will somehow create some space for themselves... :-) I ll also be interested in teaming up with people to implement ideas... Maybe we can find a group of people with similar ideas and ambitions and team up... :-)

I totally agree, and I'm looking forward to meeting you if you choose HHL!

That was great information! Nice to read something more personal versus all the information online that we have read over and over again.

Your friend did not learn Mannheim. Like you, he just heard from others. The more you know about the school, the more you hate it. Personally, I do not think placement rate in German MBA can reach over 80%. At the end of the date, those do not speak German will float somewhere
Posted Jan 27, 2014 05:44
Definitely true about the placement comment. I would hope every applicant would know that when applying to a business school in another country, you better be able to speak the language or you will have a difficult time after graduation.

The FT MBA rankings show that German MBAs can do better than a 80% placement date -- Mannheim was at 96% (only three Chinese schools did better).

Kindly? Where is the fun in that haha just kidding :).
Your profile is very good in my opinion. Where are you from by the way since you mentioned Erasmus? Also, when is your interview with HHL?
