Which industry maybe ?
Posted Jan 31, 2010 19:27
Well.. Singapore and Hongkong would be the pick of them all regardless of the industry you are choosing...as they are the powerhouse cities in Asia..
Look for jobs in mainland china only if you know mandarin.. without the language jobs are few and far between for expats in china.. just ask any International student at CEIBS.
Malaysia and Thailand are decent places.. but dont expect glorified salaries.. unless you are getting transfered internally within a company.. to these places..

What about Taiwan and ?

Than what about South korea and Taiwan?

Yesterday I read that jobs in Singapore are very limited and hard to get especially to forign students and companies prefer local students of Singapore.
And salary paid to Bacalar of local students of Singapore are more than salary paid to Master student of forign.
What do you think is it correct?

I'd think a big would be if you knew Mandarin or not. While many corporations use English, there's more and more interaction with mainland Chinese government and companies, so a solid knowledge of Mandarin would get you far.
Other than that, Singapore's been hit by the global recession, but that's not unique in today's economy.

What kind of idiot question is that, which country?! go do your research before asking random questions like that
What kind of toilet paper should I use tonight?
What kind of hamburger should I eat tonight?
Have you heard about google.com? yes, that's right, it's the latest technology in search, it's called. google.com

Hi fishball, I do not think the question 'which country?' is necessarily a stupid one. To be honest with you, some people would do their school analysis top-down. They choose which country they have the most interest, then take a deeper research.
For myself, I also do research on the country of my interest. But due to economic crisis in europe and u.s., I did not even bother to apply to u.s. or europe. This is because I am worry that they would not have immigration policy that is friendly enough to foreigner.
I have heard so many sad cases where your MBA degree does not matter much because employers cannot hire foreigners.
IMHO, choosing MBA should be a strategic move in the future. Choosing which country to go to is the first step of the decision process.
Note that I feel that from the countries listed, I would only choose H.K. and singapore because both countries are ambitious to be global financial hub in the future.
I have been living in singapore for the past 3 years, this country will be big in these sectors: private banking, investment banking/hedge fund operation, and health-care.
There are others like logistic, insurance and IT. But they still cannot beat H.K.
H.K. has more promising future because the people there are just amazing; they are industrialist and innovator. Their financial market is already mature, and each day they keep getting deals from china. But of course, you must have heard about the china's bubble. So there is risk, if china bubble pops when you graduate in asia, I think it will be hard to find any jobs in H.K.

Rhino,What about South Korea and Thailand?

South Korea is a very rich country.
Their infrastructure technology is top-notch.
Their creative industry also world-class.
I am sure you have heard of Samsung and Hyundai.
The country probably almost on par with Japan, Taiwan, H.K., China (the BIG BOYS in East asia).
Thailand is only big in Tourism.
Also, the political turmoil is a MESS. The Red vs Yellow shirts problem is never ending mess.
And with the King is in very bad health, people are bearish on Thai baht (its currency) and stock market.
that's the preview of what you should expect from those countries.
I'm bullish on South Korea (assuming the North Korea never launch preemptive attack) and bearish on Thailand.

You know, I've always wondered how people decided where to study, where to work, before the Internet - since they didn't have random forums where they could ask life changing questions to totally random strangers for their feedback.
I'm fine with people asking questions, but look at the starting
"Which country will be best in terms of job prospects and starting salary-:
Singapore
Taiwan
etc"
Rhino, as much as I see that you want to help others, consider Nazme's approach - which basically boils down to - which country is stable (or growing) and where I can have a high salary.
Do you really think that information can't be found on Google? How much deep research is that?
But each to his own. And frankly, Nazme, I am within my limits, why? What are you going to do if I'm not within them? And what limits are you talking about on a totally anonymous forum? What wonderfully in-depth information did you get that you could not have found through google?
You're a freaking genius.
Quick!! CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD HAVE FOR LUNCH?!?! I AM HUNGRY
kthxbye.

Fishball I have already searched on google all the information. But it is good to clear the doubts and choose right country because if I choose wrong country than bloody racist will not let me live in that country peacefully and my future would be in hell.
And I have said already that if you dont want to reply to my post than dont reply but dont give such comments.
If you dont have information regarding this post than dont comment.

What's wrong with your own country?
Posted Mar 15, 2010 09:38
Hmm..
I think you need to be a bit more specific with your questions. It'll help people answer more clearly.
