Global MBA is more like an international MBA as compared to traditional MBA which is mostly local.

Global MBA gives exposure to the world wide business culture that helps to understand the business management across the border. There are several universities that provide Global MBA like IMD, S P Jain School of Global Management, LBS, etc.

But here, they have EMBA-Global. I think, it is an executive MBA, but then I am not sure about the program.

So what would you suggest which one to apply for? S P Jain or LBS or any other B-School that could provide the Global opportunity.

The EMBA Global is a programme that leads to a dual degree called "Master of Business Administration". "Global" is simply an adjective, to indicate that the programme is taught in three continents. Other programmes use that adjective for a range of reasons. It has no consistent meaning.

Yes, this is absolutely correct. The term "Global" preceding the MBA degree title has become a marketing overkill.

So is it a marketing strategy you mean? But why the business school like LBS & SP Jain would do such for marketing. For LBS, I can understand their reputability based on their alums and programs while S P Jain provides study opportunities in three international different cities - Dubai, Singapore & Sydney. So some how I am not agreed to you mate, sorry but yeah!

While somehow I am agreed to Duncan saying it as an Adjective, defining various means to GLOBAL in this context.

Marketing isn't lying. It's not necessarily a scheme to describe a programme as global, so when LBS and SP Jain have "global" programmes what they mean is that these are programmes taught more or less equally across different locations in different campuses. That's quite different from some other Global MBAs: some of them are global because they are aimed at international students, most of whom will return to their own country. Others are off-campus, distance-learning programmes.

What they all have in common is that the programmes are aimed at international students and relate to international business. However, for example, almost every top-tier MBA in Europe and Asia has those aims, so the "global' adjective doesn't uniquely describe such programmes.

Hello Duncan,

Thanks for this link. I went through the thread but quite unclear which one college to pick. I've got GMAT score 670.

So please suggest which one institute would be good to apply for.

Thanks a lot!

Hello Nitenya,

I visited those two links that you have mentioned in this discussion S P Jain and LBS. I know about LBS college but not sure whether my score is acceptable there. Even the study cost would be much higher I think in LBS.

S P Jain seems good campus & diversity wise but do you really think it would help me out to get the global exposure?

I am really sorry but I need to be very clear before getting into any institute for next 2 years. Appreciate your help.

Roshan, I don't know anything about your background or goals, or even if you are focussing on a part-time or full-time programme. Considering that you are an Indian with a 670 GMAT, I think you should be looking at schools with an average GMAT at or under 620. How about Strathclyde (if your integrative, leadership and soft skills are weaker) or Durham (if your functional and analytical skills are weaker)?

It seems like an understatement..

I can possibly get admissions in top colleges. Regarding my skills, so I have better hold on my functional and analytical skills.

Thanks!
