I had an interesting discussion with a former colleague about the executive education scene in South Africa. While this doesn't automatically extend to the full-time MBA, it's insightful. In their opinion, GIBS (the University of Pretoria's AACSB and AMBA-accredited business school) is used more or extensively for executive education, and is far more trusted by major employers than UCT. In contrast, UCT is seen by them as a more academic setting with a much more contested campus with more political protests and closures.

That's really interesting, since outside of the country the perception seems to be the opposite, given that UCT is typically ranked in the FT Global MBA ranking while Gibs is not.

The FT Exec Ed ranking is also insightful. GIBS educates ten times more executives than UCT.
