Applications are now being accepted for the program's July 2014 start

The College of William & Mary's Mason School of Business has announced that it will launch a joint MBA / MD program, through a partnership with Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).

The entire program is four years long: Participants will spend three years at EVMS before one year at Mason.

The program is designed to provide health professionals with the business knowledge that they'll need when they are out in the field.

“Doctors now realize that, in one way or another, they are going to face the market and they have to understand more business concepts to be able to manage their careers,” said Deborah Hewitt, Mason's assistant dean for MBA programs.

The program is set to launch in July.
