Here's some good news for anyone stateside who has dreamed of studying business in Barcelona: IE Business School has just acquired a school in New York City with plans of turning it into a college focused on business and sustainability.
This won't be a traditional type of MBA. This initiative has the added benefit of an expanded scope that includes a focus on STEM—or science, technology, engineering, and math—providing a much more comprehensive education instead of the traditional business MBA.
IE Business School plans to invest $18 million into IENYC over the next five years. When complete, they will accept cohorts of 60 students, and masters programs will cost around $60,000 per year.
It’s rare for an international school to expand operations in the United States, but not entirely uncommon. Glasgow Caledonian University made a similar move in 2013, opening up Glasgow Caledonian New York College. IESE, also in Spain, and INSEAD—located in France—made similar initiatives, opening schools in the U.S. that offer executive courses and study abroad opportunities.
