University of Minnesota vs University of North Carolina

Hello team

I am looking to get some expert advice in choosing between the Carlson school of management and the Kenan Flagler business school.. i have admits to both. I have a 40k USD scholarship from Carlson and no scholarship from Kenan Flagler.

I have almost 7 years experience in power sector. I have short term goals of transitioning to consulting and long term would like to remain associated with the power/energy sector in leadership roles.

Kenan Flagler is considerably costly compared to Carlson after factoring in the scholarship. i see Kenan Flagler is higher ranked in almost all the ranking when compared to Carlson. But does the cost difference justify the advantages that Kenan Flagler provides?

Think about it this way, spread over your entire career of 40 years, 40K is just 1K a year, a rounding error in your potential future earnings.  It should not make much of a difference in your decision.  Decide based on the school's placement results for your intended industries.

Do not make this choice on the basis of the scholarship. If anything, the scholarship is a red flag: The sad facts about scholarships http://www.find-mba.com/board/37055
Take a look at How to use LinkedIn to find the best school www.find-mba.com/board/33571
- Carlson c. 550 energy consulting alumni with MBAs from 16,000. 3.4%- Kenan-Flager c. 770 energy consulting alumni with MBAs from 14,000. 5.5% -> UNC looks more relevant, and its alumni base is more widely distributed.
