Hi, Im from India..I've got the acceptance letter from RIT,saunders school of business and Hofstra, Frank Zarb school of business.
Hofstra also offered a scholarship of 8000$ per year.
I have some friends in rochester city n wanted to go there.
But,Im really concerned about various factors like placements..curriculum..faculty n starting salary package from these 2 universities..
Which school would you suggest? How's RIT's MBA Finance? Anyone to help??
Hofstra or RIT ??

RiT is better known for Finance with respectable PHD program, but its hours away from NYC. Hofstra has incredible facitlities, largest academic trading room in the world. check out these pictures.

They participate in NYC trading competitions held at NYMEX and other exchanges.

who is RIT? I have never hear about this school.
I think there is some confusion here with people thinking about Rochester - Simon.
between Hofstra and Rochester - Simon you might be weighing your options, but RIT is totally unknown.

Hi Ritika, I am from Mumbai, India. I have an admits from Mason W&M, Pamplin Virginia Tech and Hofstra. I am going Hofstra for my MBA finance because of its lucrative 16,500 scholarship for each year, its geographical proximity (near to NYC) and in fact OK curriculum ( My friend is doing MBA from Hofstra) . I believe Geographical Proximity is the major factor that will help you to choose your school. Well, I also not very much aware of RIT, but still suggest you to think the money factor too, since job picture for Intl. students is still not good. Good Luck

Moreover..the living and personal expenses at hofstra are much more than the tuition fee....So,if hofstra is giving us a scholarship,it wont realy help as the living expenses are quite high there....because i went through the graduate residence hall rates..n found them expensive..it'll cost us abt Rs35,000 per month+ food+transportation+ books and other expenses....
I would like to know..what is the scene with ur friend studying there..?

Regarding Accommodation people are able to find it at approximately $375 to $550 per head per month. The total Living cost per month Ranges from $600 to $900 per month depending on lifestyle preferences.
Regarding Jobs , EVERYONE who is willing to work , gets a campus job. Maximum amount people get monthly is approx $550 by doing a on campus job which requires doing nothing and just seeing wheter people swipe their access cards.
There are some jobs which require some skills and can pay you $800 too. But those are almost 20 % of the total jobs and are competitive.
Let me know if you still have any queries

By accomodation...u r reffering to on-campus living or off-campus?? If this is the scenario..then it's quite impressive and affordable. Actually the cost of our investment should be less than the return...Do you have any idea regarding the starting package a student gets after getting his/her degree in MBA from Hofstra..?
By the way, thanks for the info dude!!

It is Off Campus. On Campus would be a bit higher. As per USNews, Average salary for 2009 MBA from Hofstra is $76,000 but I still saying that job scenario is not that good . Hope it helps.

hey i m nimesh from pune, india.I also applied to hofstra university for mba program.Jus wanted to knw from u ppl is that wen u applied and wen u got admission confirmation.Jus 2 days back i got a mail from hofstra informing me that i have to choose between daytime or evening mba...Did u ppl get such type of mails...In application status it is showing my application is in dept review...So ppl give ur info..
Posted Apr 04, 2010 13:38
Hi,
It's because you might not have specified in the online application regarding ur priority between daytime and evening program. If ur application is in dept.review, means the decision has not yet been made. Just answer all the pending questions..so that they can consider ur application for making a decision.

hey ritika.. i got a mail from hofstra that the seats for the full time mba day program is full. they said they would like me to join the evening full time mba program...they are sayin the curricullum n faculty are all the same...can u suggest me what shud i do?
Posted Apr 12, 2010 08:32
If the curriculum n faculty are same..then it hardly makes a difference..because many of the students get evening classes..The day time students would also be shifted to the evening classes after the third semester. So,there's no harm if u go for the offer.
Good Luck !

thnx ritika..i got the admittance mail frm hofstra for the evening full time mba...btw how did u return that tution fee form and how did u pay the advance fee of $200..??
Posted Apr 14, 2010 08:51
I'll pay the tuition fee online after i get the I-20. You can make an international draft of $200 and enclose it along with the form. But I requested them to tell me some other way of making that deposit. I've got a credit card form from them as an attachment in a mail that needs to be faxed.
