Enilsted Military

I am currently an enlisted Navy sailor with one year left of my enlistment. Prior to the Navy, I earned my undergraduate business degree from the University of Vermont. I went enlisted rather than officer in order to get a ground floor experience, thinking that if I chose to stay in, I would apply for a commission and that perspective would serve me well as a leader. I am, however, choosing to enter the civilian world now and would like to apply for MBA programs.

My question is: will the fact that I am enlisted with a degree prior to my military service hurt my marketability for MBA admission, or is this something I can work with as a positive attribute?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Major General James Wright program at College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA

Each year we have 10-20 people from US Armed Forces (enlisted/serving) who enroll into the program, it's a 15 month long program. the 1st year of MBA is common with MGJW, then the MBA cohort goes onto summer break and the MGJW stays back to finish some Operations, SCM courses to conclude their MBA degree.

And, it's all paid by the US Govt. / Army / Coast Guard etc.

P.S - there are a lot of opportunities in Federal Consulting in DC/MD/VA area they constantly seek people who have served, and can clear SCI/TSCI/Poly clearance
