I suggest people reply to you at http://www.find-mba.com/board/36208 where you have asked the same question. To stand a chance of getting into a second or third tier MBA you must improve your GMAT.

thanks for the reply sir,
2 of my seniors got into Indian school of business last year with the same work experience but a gmat score of 660. since they made it to a tier 1 b school, i was hopeful of getting into a second tier or a third tier b school, but 4th tier is way to low hence i will take your advice and reappear for the gmat. another thing i would like to ask is that if my score dose not improve significantly,
with the current market situation is advisable to do a spend 100 thousand dollars (on loan from bank) in the form of tution, what is the return of investment and placement from 4th tier b schools????

The average GMAT at ISB is 711, and these colleagues must be senior to you, or have something else to compensate for their low GMAT. As I explain at http://www.find-mba.com/board/27082 you have to apply to schools where your GMAT is above the average unless you are above average on the schools other criteria.

Obviously you should get into the best school you can, since the value of better MBAs is much greater than the value of less good MBA, even when we include the costs. There are lots of data published about placement, costs and salaries: I think you can find that yourself. The FT Global MBA ranking has a variable for salary, and another for value: these are good to start with.

sir almost all the ranked b schools in canada have a bachelors requirement of 4 years, but my overseas education consultant said that they can consider if i apply through them, consultant is charging me $600 application,
is it true that some b schools will then accept a 3 years bachelors or is the consultant just trying to rip me off $600

It seems unlikely that a school which says on its website that it needs four years will accept someone without that because the applications come through a consultant. Ask him for the name of a school you can call to verify that.

There's also something very obvious about this offer, but to be careful I should also spell it out. This offer is immoral and corrupt. If you are able to obtain a benefit against the rules by paying a fee to some intermediary, then that is corrupt and unethical. Don't do it.

i understand sir, will apply to UK and Australian b schools where a 3 years Indian degree is considered at par.
i have done a bachelors in science from one of the best university in India( BIT) got a overall 94.8% in my bachelors,
have work ex of 5 years, sailed onboard ultra large crude carrier ships as a second mate, have an international work experience of 2 years.
imagine my situation when this admissions officer from a canadian b school candidly tells me "we don't accept a 3 years Indian bachelors, but we do accept a 3 years European and Australian bachelors"
this is hypocrisy...............
and apart from that this canadian admissions councillor has no clue that BIT is second only to IIT's in India if not at par.
he compares my work experience to that of a common applicant says" have u ever supervised a team a three to four people" to this i reply, sir every day when i am onboard a ship i have at least 8 hours of watch keeping duty, during this time i am responsible for the ship ( approx 200-250 million $), the cargo( 500 mill $ ) and most importantly for the lives of 25 sailors on board because they trust me that i will navigate the ship safely. apart from this i am incharge of 8 deck crews, during my watch.
reading all this one may think this is ego talk,
well in short this is the job profile of a second mate's license holder, but i should not be boasting, anyways i am just angry at this canadian admissions guy because of his ignorance and hypocrisy.
i will rather apply to a b school where my education and work experience is given it's due credit.
thank you for answering my queries.......
