UoNottingham Business School Vs UoLeeds Business School

Shaan619

Hi,

I'm an Indian with 10 years of experience in IT consulting worked for service based IT companies like Wipro, Capgemini and TCS and in my journey have handled ERP implementation of clients such as Seagate, Cisco, Michelin, Stellantis and Motorola Solutions.

I now would like to learn business/management consulting through a full time MBA from a UK university and start to work for a big 4 post my studies as a management consultant.

I so far have received offers from the University of Nottingham, University of Leeds, University of Glasgow Business Schools and the Aston Business School.

I've applied to the University of Edinburgh and University of Durham Business Schools but they haven't started the round to review my application ( it will take 2 more months to get their decisions and my other offers will expire)

Given my case, if I were to choose from the 4 universities that I've already received the offers from, which ones would you suggest I go with?

How to use LinkedIn to find the best school www.find-mba.com/board/33571

In a nutshell
- These schools won't get you into strategy consulting.
- Surely you know these are not the best schools to apply for. Why are you doing that?
- You can apply for IT consulting roles now, without an MBA

PS - How does the business problem you want to consult on align to a business function? Perhaps attending a better school for an MSc specialised in a business function could give you access to stronger careers services and an easier transition into the Big Four.

I agree Duncan, these are not target schools in the UK. My criteria of selecting them was 1. non-GMAT and 2. highest possible ranking of the business school + the university

Nottingham was 130-140 worldwide, Leeds some 120-130 etc.. And these are recognised by my bank and are easier to obtain funds.

After your suggestion I thought on the lines of obtaining an MSc eg: specialised in Operations, Project and Supply Chain Management from the UoManchester and it costs 27000 GBP

For 26600 GBP I can obtain an MBA from UoLeeds Business School (after my scholarship)
And correct me if I am wrong, I am of the opinion that

the starting/long run salary of an MBA grad is much higher than starting/long run salary of an MSc grad

Also, I do not wish to go back into technical consulting, I would like to take up bigger business problems such as supply chain, operations, general management etc in a managerial role or a business consulting role. And I want to be a generalist in business upon graduating perhaps with work I might find something to drift towards

I do not look for campus placements. However, just want to confirm with you my belief that these Univs hold some reputation with UK employers that can get my profile shortlisted for interviews when I start to look for jobs?

The name of your university will not get you onto a shortlist.

Hi, well given your requirement I would say that you could try the Lancaster University MBA. It's one of the best in the UK, very well ranked in the world for their Global MBA, very pratical oriented and is value for money at 36000 GBP. So my suggestion would be to try the Lancaster MBA as well.

It makes no sense to target consulting and then exclude the GMAT.
