If lancastar promises you then I would suggest you to wait for one year and then proceed...MBA is a valuable investment...so be clear.....Dont do anything in haste and dont compare univ like Strath,Lanc etc with bottom tire univ....It shows lack of clarity...

Yes Lancaster told me that they have put me in waiting list.... In case I don't make it this year... then I will be automatically selected for next year..... What say??? I got EADA in Spain... Heard its very good.... What about Birmingham, Nottingham, Bradford, Southampton, Glasgow???
Surrey is AMBA, AACSB accredited.... How s their MBA???

each univ has its own standards and reputation....Already discussed a lot on these univ.So normally I avoid participating in these type of discussions...Since you have mentioned some big names like Lancaster.....it pulled me to participate....
No idea towards EADA

thanks... I know its a big decision but postponing it for a year... is like something I can think as age is catching up... already 28 and u know in India its not like n abroad when one studies after 30 yrs.... moreover of late I dont find my job interesting.....

You are correct but if you have the right GMAT score and all required qualities what is the harm in waiting for another one year.....in case of Lanc.....The difference between better and best is few pounds.....Choice is yours

yup.... agree with u on this... lets see.... waiting for Bradford n Nottingham....

As discussed by Susee, when you mention Lancaster, you are basically opting for one of the top business schools worldwide. So if you have a chance to get in, then I would wait for a year if not two. An MBA is a big investment and from my experience, the more you wait and get further experience the more benefit you get.
I graduated from Lancaster management school in 2005 with an MSc in information technology management & organisational change and I was 25 at the time. Now I'm 30 and I have started my MBA at Lancaster with more experience and a mature outlook on what business is all about.
If you have Lancaster as an option, then yes I would advise you to wait, as it has a different weight on the CV.
Best of luck

Also Can I join Aston, Birmingham, Strathclyde, Bradford, Nottingham if I get an offer this year????

All three are very good, but Lancaster stands as a better option as their management school is extremely highly regarded in both teaching and research. I once talked to imperial MBA director and he said to me that if you get an MBA from lancaster, you are highly sought after.
So my friend if you get into Lancaster then you got the lead.
Other MBA programmes you mentioned are decent but not close to lancaster, city or imperial.
Cheers

So shall I take up Aston, Bradford or Birmingham this year??? or u guys recommend me to defer it this year and go for Lancaster, Cass or Imperial???
Posted Jul 18, 2010 08:28
As I said, the mentioned schools (i.e. Aston, Bradford and Birmingham) are all decent schools, yet are not in the same league as Lancaster, Cass and Imperial. If you need to start this year, then go for it. However, if you got the profile and the time to wait for the higher tier, then I advise you to wait and get into these schools where the brand name counts.

Sorry what is your question exactly?

Hi,
Didn't want to start a new thread and hence posting my question here .
I need some opinions from you guys in choosing a school .I got admits from Durham , TiasNimbas and UCD smurfit . Durham is almost out of my list because of the unceratinities in the UK job market and post-MBA prospects in UK and this is why didnt apply to any UK schools further. TN has offered a good scholarship and the recent changes they made to the programme is impressive . However language issue is something that's confusing me and from alumni I undersatand that this will be a major bottleneck in fetching a job in EU region (benlaux in particular post-MBA) . Smurfit is the best in Ireland , ranked 31st in the EIU ranking and top 100 in FT , has great exchange programme and tie-up with industry . I have over 14 years of work-ex in various functional domains in the telecom sector , GMAT-670 .
What school will you chose if you were me and why ?
Expect to see some healthy discussion and suggestions .
Cheers
