Masters in UK (Choice of school)

Zaya

I'm from Mongolia, have lived and studied in US for 5 years (HS, College) and obtained BBA from Mongolian University. I have a TOEFL score of 101, about 3 yrs of corporate working experience and looking to find masters program preferably in International Business/Management.
Initially I was looking for a MBA, but after some research that I realized the MBA was much more expensive, as I will be looking for scholarships and grants to fully fund my studies. Also, since I haven't taken GMAT, it seems like a lot of time and effort will be required to successfully score the test.
I'm trying to narrow my search for schools to 3:
My 1st choice is obviously LBS and 2nd would probably be Imperial/LSE/UCL (but LSE/UCL req'd GMAT for MSc in Mgmt/IB) and for last school to apply, kindly advise on the SCHOLARSHIP offerings/international mobility of these schools. I have looked through most of the rankings (QS, Times, FT etc) and found the lists very helpful in my search, but in need of someone with a general idea/experience with these school in UK for their views on their business masters programs rather that statistical numbers listed on these rankings.
-Uni of Manchester
-Uni of Edinburgh
-Bristol
-Durham
As you can see only targeting schools that are in the top 100 and will be trying my best to be accepted in one of these schools.

Lastly something I can't get over my head, is the MBA worth the its high cost compared to the lower cost MSc degree? I could really study hard and take the GMAT, but the is MBA too general as some people say? Information I find on these 2 are contradicting and I cannot decide which is better suited for me. Thanks for your help!

Why not look at countries with cheaper or free degrees? Unless you are outstanding, you are unlikely to get a UK scholarship and very unlikely to get a full scholarship.

Hello Duncan,
Thanks for your response, I am currently applying for the Chevening Award (choice of 3 programs for the application) & also applying for Mongolian government scholarship on condition to be accepted to Top 100 university.
Masters abroad especially from one of top educational institute in a English speaking countries is the main reason I want to complete this degree.
There ARE masters degree programs offered in my home country that I can afford but I do not see much benefit in the long run. When I say I am in need of full tuition support, I'm relying that I receive one of these 2 government scholarships offered in my country(Both scholarships have a threshold limit, thus the reason not to pursue MBA at this moment). I am also quite confident to receive at least one of these 2, and positively & actively looking for a schools that suits me as an international student and the schools that will be respected/have the most international mobility when I come back to my home after graduation.

Thanks again,
Zaya

Considering the scholarship amount, perhaps the Master in European Business at ESCP Europe Business School, the M.Sc. in Finance at Lancaster University or the M.Sc. in Project Management, Finance and Risk at City University London? Take a look at http://www.mastersportal.eu/search/?q=ci-30|di-23|lv-master|rv-1|tx-20000|tt-noneea|tu-year&start=30&order=tuition_eea&direction=desc

These MSc degrees will be better than a 'freshers' MBA at a school without international accreditation. Your budget will go further outside London, of course. Perhaps also consider Stirling, Birmingham, Southampton and also look at MRes or MPhil degrees, which are often cheaper and still include practical coursework.

Why not use the FT MSc ranking to rank them?

You cannot find the FT ranking for masters in management? Try using Google.

Henley is the business school of the University of Reading. Look for Reading.

You couldn't find these schools because none of them are currently ranked in the MSc ranking. Edinburgh is, though, so that would seem like the best choice if you get in.
