Is MBA worth doing in UK ?

nair

Hello All ,

So far we have seen many questions of which universities is better , < or > Comparisions on universities , HSMP ...Keeping all this aside , a question which is going in mind and many have shared so far is that - POST MBA JOBS in UK are tough or impossible (for an overseas student) . i would like to know the ground reality through memebers of this forum

Choosing an university is definitely a great research and we have enough information on where to go , But no university has information on what next once we finish our MBA program( apart from career service etc) . I request all the alumni from several universities ( Tier 1 or Tier 2 or whatever you rank ur universities are) please share your thoughts and shed some light on coming to UK on the whole for MBA ( 3 years atleast from 2010) is a good idea or bad idea ? .

All the senior members are requested giver their views . I am a prospective student in the process of getting offers from universities , but eversince i chose UK as my destination for MBA , what next after MBA and will i get a job is tickling my mind a lot . please help . This helps actually many .

[i completely understand UK has a system where we have to go and search for one, but i am concerned if oppurtunities are opening up or not.

Please help us to get an idea what is in UK now!!

My position is much similar to yours........But the point is I think MBA as a long term investment.I don't think growth of next 5 yrs but I think about growth of next 15 years. My question is, In case if you don't get an employment in UK what will be your pay in India? Will you be thrown to the bottom of any Indian organization hierarchy....A big no............When a Great lakes candidate makes 10 to 22 lacs p.a as a entry level pay Can't you make that money if you are from a FT ranked institute?

Then you could raise a question.......I could have invested the same money in India....Why should I invest there?....World wide only one univ in India got picked in FT.....whereas approximately 30 from US,10 from UK got picked......

In generic terms becoz of recession it may take some more time to recover for UK.......Fingers crossed.......

Choice is yours......I have presented my views............Correct me If I am wrong.......

One of my friend is doing MS program over there......I think MBA should be considered as a long term invst rather than short term invst.....People have different views.....Perhaps current situation is not attractive...Think after 5 yrs....By avoiding a MBA you could have saved some 25k to 30k....After some time even if you think to do a MBA program it may not be feasible...Your age, family conditions, cost may not allow you to focus on your studies. It is true that many foreign students do their studies even at the age of 50....But do you think,is it feasible for a Indian family guy.......I think our culture may permit us to focus on next generation(your kids) only....
I too was in dilemma when I start my preparation......But now got some clarity...........In case of worst scenario you may get a placement here for 12 to 15 lacs p.a...Yesterday I checked with Great Lakes placement report......You need not worry...

Susee , THanks a lot for your reply . The above replies are really encouraging . Not that i am looking for fancy answers or motivating words.......The above has some facts and things which needs a broader view and long term thinking...

Thanks once again
