Glasgow MBA vs Durham MBA

How would you compare the two FT MBA programs? Which one would be a better choice in terms of MBA reputation and student life? Durham is very close to Newcastle and Glasgow is also a very nice city and close to Edinburgh..I am undecided...

I will answer my own question :) for anybody in the forum who got offers from both schools:

it seems that Durham business school has the edge but in terms of international reputation, glasgow university is more well-known in general and the campus is beautiful.

Be very careful of the uni guide rankings listed above!

These are primarily rankings for undergraduate degrees and are heavily weighted to student satisfaction (and less so to entrance standards) of their undergraduate students. This is not the same faculty, and in some cases school, that the MBA/post graduate programs are tought by for the most part.

The most respected MBA rankings are FT (UK/Europe), Business Week (US) and Forbes (Asia). To a lesser extent, the EIU/Economist and WSJ rankings are also used. This has been confirmed to me at interview by 6 of the top 50 business schools in the world.

Durham has a well-regarded, but not top 2 tiers in the UK, business school and MBA program. It is an internationally renown university and offers good value for money. It does not rank in comparison to LBS, Said, Judge, WBS, MBS or Cranfield though.

The only MBA I'd recommend in Scotland is the one at the University of Edinburgh.

Best of luck.
