MBA @ Univ of Delaware

vaggar4

Hi,

My Profile:
610 GMAT, 5 years work exp in IT, Male, Indian

Post MBA Goal:
Work as Senior Consultant in IT sector.

Admits:
Suny Buffalo, UIC, HHL(Germany), Univ of Delaware(UDel), SDSU and Univ of Cincinati

I would like to know:

1) Is UDel Tier 2 or Tier 3 school?
2) UDel offered me GA position for 1st year and 25% scholarship for 2nd year. So its costing me 30000$ , same as HHL MBA. Rest MBAs are costing me 50k$. I cannot afford that much money. UDel vs HHL? What should I pick?
3) How reputed is UDel? Will it carry any value once I return back to India?
4) Usnews 2015 ranking shows Udel as unranked whereas Udel was ranked around 80 in 2014. But businessweek says 86% job offers and avg salary as 83k. Sounds like great deal for me. What do you suggest?
5) I wish to work 1-2 years after MBA in US/Germany and then come back to India. Which MBA will impress my Indian employer the most? I dont want to come back to India and work at the same salary as now.

Thanks.

If you speak business-class German before starting at HHL, then you'll probably get a higher salary and better experience through HHL than UDel. If not, then the US seems safer. Thank you Duncan. But I heard from HHL alumni that the course is very hectic and you can be called for assignments even 8pm in the evening. So learning German along with that - wont it be a big task?
Also, if I tell someone that i did my MBA from US, their reaction is WOW. GREAT. If I say Germany, reaction is why not US? I mean every other guy knows that US quality of education is really great as compared to any other country. Also, I am a little afraid of Europe economy.
I know you are an alumni of HHL and u always say good things about HHL which is great. :)
But MBA + Learning German - sounds like a lot of work for an International candidate. Also, I got to know that even the career fairs are in German.

Indeed, you don't be able to learn German during the course to a professional standards. What is why I wrote "speak business-class German **before** starting at HHL"

I think some people know what a good university outside the USA is better than an average university in the USA. I guess it depends on whether you want to go to a traditional MBA employer, who will know MBA rankings, or not.

Let me be clear. I am not saying that you should go to HHL. I am saying go to Delaware if you are not taking the time to go to Germany in advance to learn German.
