MBA in Liverpool, Kinsgton or MSc Business and Management at Strathclyde

I have received an offer for MSc Business Management at Strathclyde and MBA at Liverpool, Loughborough and Kingston. I'm pretty much confused if I should choose an MBA at these universities or MSc Management at Strath. How will be the ROI & my career growth if I choose Strathclyde MBM? Appreciate your help!

Profile: Currently, I have 3+ years of work experience in Supply Chain and wanted to switch my career to management consulting.

I guess you know the MBM there can be topped up to an MBA rather easily. It'safairly low-risk option: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/university-of-strathclyde-graduate-school-of-business/masters-in-management-2019#masters-in-management-2019

I don't understand why these are your only MBA options. Why not apply to better MBAs?

You're going to want to aim much higher - basically, at ranked MBA programs - if you want to work in management consulting.

What is your GMAT score?

Hi Larry,

I don't have a GMAT. I'm interested in Strathclyde MBM but when I checked with some LinkedIn contacts they are asking me to go for MBA as the degree is recognised across the world. I am an Indian and wanted to work in the UK. Does Liverpool or Kingston MBA have good employer reputation and how is the employability scenario of students coming out of these unis?

I assume that the vast majority of the students on those MBAs return to their home country. Your LinkedIn contacts might think that someone with an average UK MBA has better job prospects in UK than someone with an MSc in management from a top business school. If not, they are mistaken. Of course, it's the opposite in, say, India. The MSc is not well known there.

You probably need to aim much higher unless you already have a network in the UK. My suggestion is to take the GMAT and / or get another two years of work experience and aim at a world-class MBA.

Hi Duncan,

I was almost fixed with Strathclyde MBM (with 50% scholarship), but then today I have heard from Liverpool (ULMS) that I have got 50% fees waiver for MBA, now again I'm not clear which one to choose between these two. The fee is almost the same for both, but there are no proper Linkedin contacts I have come across to hear about Liverpool MBA programme reviews. Could you please tell me about it based on your knowledge ?

Sure: you can book a session using the details on my profile page. But check out the discussion. I think this can answer your question: https://find-mba.com/schools/uk-ireland/uk/liverpool/discussions
