London Business School (LBS ) vs HEC Paris EMBA

What would you do if you have these two opportunities, from two big schools to make an Executive MBA?
My goal is to work for international multinational companies?
why would you select one and not the other one?

Thank you in advance for your support.

This might depend on which of the different EMBAs you were applying do, how big a transition you want to make, and where you want to work. If you are not already working for MNCs, a full-time degree might be better.

Hello Duncan,

I am working already in a multinational for 10 years, 80 000 employees with multi divisions/sectors.I have overall 12 years experience.

I was applying for MBA but was suggested by the schools that an EMBA would fit better to my profile and experience...

I have offers from HEC Paris (English), LBS London.

I live in Germany, I see easier transition in Germany but keep open to international mobility, like in UAE or other countries in Europe (Not necessary France) or maybe US.

If the US is useful, did you maybe consider a double degree like Manchester  Kelley, LBS Columbia, Tias Purdue,  WU Carlson or WHU Kellogg  etc?

I was thinking about it, but as the probability is very low, and if i would go to the US, it will be most probably through a European company with expatriate contract.
additionally, financially speaking, I am really at the Edge with LBS EMBA.
to be honest with you, i want to decide and start, I am really tired with applying and going again through all steps :-)

What would you choose between LBS EMBA and HEC EMBA ?

I *am* an LBS EMBA alumnus but, since I don't have much more clarify on your responses to my initial questions, I am not sure you need an MBA or, if you two, that it should be either of those.

as said, previously, I was checking the double degrees from HEC Trium and the ones you have listed, but as the price is much higher and the program schedule is not really fitting to my timing, as the same time, the fact to be in the US is very low. therefore this dual degree is not going to be possible.

@Duncan, how do you see the career position from LBS MBA/EMBA Alumni in Germany?

LBS students are highly able. Alumni do well and their network is pretty good. Naturally, a top German or Swiss school will have a better network.

Duncan,

You are right, there are pretty good profiles of LBS Alumnus in executive position in big companies (BMW, DB, Mercedes, etc.) based in Germany. Looks good.

I think the quality of the MBA students at LBS will be so much higher than at the German schools. My experience at HHL was that the MSc/Diplom students are better than the MBAs.

Thank you Duncan,
I have to decide end of next week.
I was looking also to Oxford Saïd Business School, but their EMBA is much longer (doesn't bother) but you need to be 90 days off office. this is close to impossible for me. it is so different than HEC or LBS in terms of planning!

I don't think the Oxford EMBA has any advantages over LBS. The LBS value proposition is really only equalled by Insead.

Thank you for the clear answer, Duncan.
I eliminated HEC, and need to confirm my answer to LBS and Oxford next week. But the choice is already made.
