That's great! By the way, I've forwarded this post to many acquaintances who've wanted to pursue an MBA. It's a very useful process.

Thank you for the helpful information!

Someone had a big of trouble following these steps, so here is a series of screenshots. I've started from their hypothesis, that an MBA is a good route into the New Zealand hospitality industry. I'll drop the screen shots here, and perhaps later put it into a PowerPoint.
1. https://www.dropbox.com/s/quz58nxc2a8a6ba/Screenshot%202019-10-30%2018.12.50.png?dl=0
2. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8yhkz550njeune7/Screenshot%202019-10-30%2018.25.12.png?dl=0
3. Remove the country name from the search box and instead use the country from the Location options under the filter, then hit Apply.

Great: 15,000 MBAs in New Zealand. Now lets go back into the filters and refine for industry. We'll need to type in to get Hospitality.
5 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivh2rakg1l24573/Screenshot%202019-10-30%2018.28.48.png?dl=0 So we select Hospitality and then Apply
6. https://www.dropbox.com/s/a3cei7i6m839yny/Screenshot%202019-10-30%2018.31.00.png?dl=0
So now we go back into the Filters and scroll down and see the schools attended by MBAs in the Hospitality industry in New Zealand.
7. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qsk9unnh6trw79m/Screenshot%202019-10-30%2018.32.40.png?dl=0
So when we go back to the Filter again that leaves us with 221 people and if we scroll down to the list of schools we see:
- Auckland University of Technology
- Massey University
- Glion Institute of Higher Education
- University of Southern Queensland
- Xiamen University.

Hi Duncan, this was an excellent post and so useful. Can I suggest one other variable for analysis purposes which some people may find useful and that is the number of mutual connections that each person in the results has? My thinking is similar to one of the key parts of Google's search algorithm 'Page Rank'. This works by counting the number and quality of links to a page to determine a rough estimate of how important the website is. The underlying assumption is that more important websites are likely to receive more links from other websites. (Source: Wikipedia).
I applied the same principle and looked at my results which had a higher number of mutual connections based on a list of around 15-20 schools in the US and Europe for people who are CIOs or equivalent.
The results were quite opening as the schools that appeared again and again were Warwick, Oxford, Open University and Boston then a gap to Cranfield. The eye opener here for me was Boston as I found so many people who had done their mini-MBA for Tech Executives programme. This backed up my decision to enrol in the Boston Digital Leadership EdX micromasters which can be used as part of Boston's other qualifications/certifications.
I'm sure this variable has some limitations but as part of a broad picture and for those people like myself who are maybe older and already have large networks, it's a useful addition I think.

I would assume that there's a strong cultural effect there, so international comparisons are tricky. Making and accepting a request might have a lower threshold in the UK than in Europe.
It's a pity that the BU Micromasters cannot work with its online MBA.

Networking potential is a useful indicator for program fit, but wouldn't a degree be more effective based on the number of connections it opens? (rather than people already in your current network.)

I think that is what I was trying to say. I was looking at my 2nd level connections, i.e. people I don't know who are in my wider 'network' as opposed to 1st level.

It contributes towards 25% of BU's MS in Digital Technology. That MS is offered as part of a two year joint MBA/MS at Questrom. That really would be a superb course.
