Which school to choose for full time MBA: Emlyon, France or Trinity College, Dublin

TBS

Hi,

I have been selected at Emlyon and Trinity College for MBA starting in 2024. I am confused which one to select. Requesting you to provide your views and thoughts.

A little about me: I am IT project Manager from India with around 14 years exp and about 10 years in Project Management. I would like to enter into Business Development if I get a good opportunity(else okay to continue in project Mgmt as well!.).. I dont plan to come back to India for next few years, so employability and salary are on mind.

Assuming that you won't speak French to a professional level when you start the programme, Trinity is the better option.

The real question is: why are these your two choices?

Thank you so much for providing your views. Yes, I dont speak French..and even if I manage to learn in next few months, it wont be business level.. My criteria for choosing the schools were mainly Fees(<40000 euros) and FT rankings.. I wanted to go to Europe only and hence shortlisted a few schools..I have applied to couple of others as well, yet to hear back..

If continuing in IT project management is your Plan B after an MBA then think whether it's realIy worth doing the programme. You don't need an MBA to be an IT Project Manager.

Perhaps you can identify some additional career goals that would be more aligned with an MBA?

This is the correct response :)

Also, if you want to move into business development (i.e. selling) then an MSc in marketing from a school with a solid B2B marketing background could be better: Cranfield, Imperial; Lancaster, or a French language course followed by any of the grandes ecoles MSc programmes in negotiation or key account management: CNAM, ESDES, EM Normandie, ESC Clermont, IESEG, NEOMA, Rennes...
