Hello! I am thinking about doing an MBA in the future. While searching for business schools(in Belgium) that offer MBA programmes, I found the UIBS(www.uibs.org) and the TIMI(www.timi.edu). These are private schools. They look like fine schools but I can't find anything about there accreditation.
Is there anyone that knows something about the reputation and the quality of these schools, and there programmes?
Thanks a bunch!
Joris

Hi,
UIBS is apparently opening a new sattelite campus in Antwerp and Brussels next academic year. "Starting October 2007, AIBS will start offering professionally oriented business and management education ..." (from the AIBS website)
I think their main campus is located in Barcelona.
I've been studying in Belgium myself but I haven't heard anything positive about TIMI lately, only that they are now part of an Indian school that is having some trouble.
What quality is concerned, I'm guessing that they are working towards a major accreditation since the school in Barcelona only exists for 5 years (which is a minimum requirement for many accreditations), however they already seem to have several partnerships with big uni's in the US and South America.
I suggest you contact the schools directly and find out yourself since that gives you a better look at things.
Let us know about your findings!
Kind regards,
Kevin

UIBS has opened a campus in Antwerp already and campus in Brussels will be operational from Oct. 2008.
I also want to do MBA and looked at these 2 institutes. But found that there are very much similar, probably started by same person.
I have been told by both of the institutes that they don't have accreditation in Belgium due to language berriers (English vs. Belgian languages).
Does anyone know if its good to join TIMI? I would like to have views of someone who has passed from there.

I know it\'s true that in belgium there are no private schools recognized by their government. I went to a international school in Brussels in high school and it wasn\'t listed with the ministery of education in belgium so my parents had to pay for the studies all by themselves so i was only there for 2 years. Too bad though cuz i loved the education there! Right now i\'m studying in the univesity in brussels. When I have enough money after my bachelor I am definitely considring private schools again for a master or something cuz I don\'t really care that a school is not listed by the goverment

But MBA programmes can't be measured just by how much one pays - like any other graduate qualification, accreditation, quality of teaching, rankings, the breadth and depth of courses offered, entrance requirements and so on are far more important. I don't know too much about the system in Belgium, but in a lot of places private schools exist outside government assessment excercises for good reason, ie. they're not good enough.

Joris, i will say if u have not payed ur fees in these schools, pls dont. I have been a student @ IMI brussels.
-these schools are not recognised here, no equivalence are issued but students from some african countries obtain equivalence... so y not from a school in the country ??? & worst of all
- i cant find a job using a qualification from there cos no employer seems to know or even have heard of these schools. its a nightmare when u complete from such schools, after all the fees u pay and u cant pick up a job.
-In this schools u will find mostly foreigners who have either no intention of remaining in the country or are just there for theiur resident permits.
Just go to a state university which is recognised world wide. That will help u alot in or out of the country...especially if u intend to live in the Eu or US
Thx Tricia

You do realize that that original post was over three years old, don't you? I'm sure by this time, Joris is well past the point of decision-making.

Tricia : When you have graduate from uibs ? is that for master degree or graduated.
Ralph : What do you know about UIBS ?
I found on their pages that they have an accreditation
http://www.antwerp.uibs.org/about_accreditation.html
But , Why are people don't recognize them ?
I still finding why they haven't a picture or photo on their website ?
Moreover, are they really professional ? They really have an ability to face and manage a diverse cultural students.
Please share something guys..
Thanks anyway

T_N_D, the ECBE is not a respected accreditation body. It does not accredit any of the ranked business schools. Read more at http://www.find-mba.com/accreditations
UIBS webiste is explicit that its 'degrees' do not have the legal status of degrees.
