Hi David,
Strathclyde is actually a very good school, with an excellent reputation. It ranks 30th in the Financial Times Global MBA rankings for 2008, whereas the EU in Barcelona doesnt rank in the top 100 at all. This doesnt mean it isnt good - the school has been established since 1973, and does have a pretty decent reputation, an but its worth thinking about. You should have a proper look at the faculty at each, the areas of expertise and specialism, and the pros and cons of each course before you make a final decision.

On their website EU claim: "European University (EU) is one of the world's top business schools recognized for the excellence of its students and faculty."
I think this is quite a bold statement, given the fact, that EU has no major accreditation.
I would also be a bit worried about this: http://www.gencat.net/eadop/imatges/4872/07080020.pdf - If I understand this correctly, EU has no license to offer MBA courses in Spain. Any native speakers who can help with this?

Hi david
I have been in Switzerland since last year and working closely with 3 other of my colleagues from Spain. It appears to me that the EU University does not seem to be their first few choices should they have studied there.
I wish you good luck.
Kind regards,
Thomas

I'm not so sure anymore this is a good university ...
though I do think it's good to talk to the administration and the students like Catherine says to have a more complete idea

Thank you federico_bcn for answer and your links,
Now i am pretty shocked,
In the first link,a person said:``European University is basicely a play ground for rich kids with more money than brains.``
that is a very crucial conclusion,if the reputation is so low then it is not the best idea or choice to go there.
Greetings,David

EU is only a Univeristy in their name.
Non-recognized institution. Their reputation is bad in Spain because is only for kids with a lot of money and the owner only wants the money from students. Money and money, if you fail you have to pay again plus private lessons, and to them is the best because to them you are just a bank.
For some students is not a problem they are paying for the paper.
It is better to buy a book and study at home (and cheaper) if you decide to go to this "Institution".
In the past it was a good placed to learn but now is just a place where people without even the High School could access and they try to attract foreigners in order to obtain a visa to access to the country. The Generalitat has cancelled all accreditations and it is really hard to access to a good job afterwards. of course if you parents are rich you will go directly to a good position....

Can you actually enroll in that school without even having a high school degree?? That is an a amazing info! For most it is probably an indicator to avoid the school, for some it might be last hope.... ;-)
Do you know people who have studied there or is that the general image the school has in Spain?
Anyways, interesting input!

nonsens, EU is a very good school.
They did not had any accreditations only because they are from CH. (you know how the swiss are, dont give a damn about the world).
But that is changing, they are in the process of getting all reputable accreditations.
One was already awarded, with few more to come in next 2-3 years.
The European University (EU, www.euruni.edu) is an ACBSP accredited multi-campus private university, established in 1973, with headquarters in Switzerland. It operates campuses in Switzerland (Geneva and Montreux), Spain (Barcelona), and Germany (Munich), with an executive facility in Yvorne, Switzerland.
ACBSP (Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs) is a US accreditation agency that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA, www.chea.org).

I went to this university and cannot recommend it at all. I m pretty sure that people that speak well about this university in internet forums are employees of EU. They always showed the memberships on their website to confuse people, because most people thought those were accreditations. Now finally since several month they got one accreditation (and not one of the important ones that Barcelona´s top business schools IESE, ESADEor EADA have). And of course a few days after they got there accreditation, random people write about this in the mba forums???!! Please!
Maybe EU isnt even that bad, but when keeping in mind that it costs more than 5000? per semester, there are many better options, even in Barcelona!

Can you please share your experiences there? what didn't you like? was the schooling bad? the career service? ect...
would be interesting to know. it appears that this school has a bad reputation..... one should consider this, and maybe go for one of the other programs in Spain.
and mridula - i read in one of the forums links posted here, that this program is not accredited in Germany. you should really check this before starting.....

I wrote this one. English might seem really bad, its just that I translated it with google translator and did not correct it properly. However you wont have problems to understand it!
In conclusion, I got accepted at another university with important accreditations and I am able to follow the classes with what I learned before at EU, but the classes at EU should have been at a much higher level. As other people said before, there are many students that are not willing to work but only came to go partying in Barcelona and it seems that EU is even adapting itself a liitle bit to them! I also believe that administration is not doing a good job there and often they are just not honest to the students (the accreditation thingy is the best example).

The impression I got from the career service (but I didnt really informed myself too much about it) was that it was a very very poor one.
nonsens, EU is a very good school.
They did not had any accreditations only because they are from CH. (you know how the swiss are, dont give a damn about the world).
Ah yeah of course, the bad swiss people that dont give a damn about the world are the reason for the not existing accreditations.
But that is changing, they are in the process of getting all reputable accreditations.
One was already awarded, with few more to come in next 2-3 years.
So you know quite a lot about future plans of the university could you please tell us whats your relation to EU?
