Hi all,
Looking at doing an MBA to add to my technical skills (PhD) and allow career progression into the commercial side of the business. Im employed in the agribusiness industry and no interest in working for a bank or big consulting firm. Also, Im rural NSW based being a flight away from the east coast.
Exclusive distance learning isn't my thing, and prefer face-to-face discussions but due to distance know that I need to do some online study. Looking at Aust options, AGSM's MBAx program looks good but has no face-to-face options, Deakin and MGSM both allow online and block taught units. Tried a Deakin module (pre census date) but it was heavily based on a text book and no online engagement with peers. MGSM looks good allowing for online units and block units but a little concerned about price as I will be self-funded. Its also a 16 unit MBA, not 12 like AGSMx.
Looking further afield, several UK uni's like Warwick and Durham offer blended MBA's, with some classroom based events. It looks like I could do a Warwick DL MBA and spend less time away from home than if I did several block taught units in Aust. They are also a lot cheaper than MGSM/AGSM. While my employers will likely be European companies, I see myself staying put in Australia.
Would anyone like to comment on the value of a UK DL or global MBA in Australia compared to MGSM?
Cheers

Even if the experience is better with Warwick, you will get a valuable network with a top Australian school. Choose that perhaps?

Assuming the MGSM program is as flexible as the website makes it out to be, that sounds like a great option. You'll certainly have an easier time building your network in Aus if you did that program, versus if you did a UK distance learning option.
